Say I wanted to put this texture in my Fam folder (
http://i204.photobucket.com/albums/bb213/Phantom914/b07.jpg) http://i204.photobucket.com/albums/bb213/Phantom914/b07.jpg. What changes would I need to make to the picture in order for it to show up in the game correctly?

The thread title and the first post are not asking the same question.

Yes, but since you are smart enough to understand what he is asking you might as well help him when you post.

Prior to the steps that R Soul refers you to, I would take a closer look at the suitability of the texture as is. For example, I would first examine the texture in a utility that shows how it would look when tiled on a surface. As you can see there are areas (bands) on the texture which make an obvious and jarring repeating pattern. I would then either
* edit the texture to minimize those bands,
* verify that the repeating elements will not be visible in my use of the texture in-game, or
* select a different texture and start over.

How would I replace that texture with one already in the game without it showing up as weird colors? I already made it 256x256x8 or 128x128x8 and it still doesn't have the correct colors

the texture must use the default palette.

How do I use that?

(

or for a onesie-twosie need, just open any T1/G texture in your favorite texture editor (PSP, IrfanView, whatever) and save the palette on your drive (editor specific functionality) with a clever name like Thief. Then import the texture you want to apply that palette to, and use the texture editor to apply the palette. Voila!

Another important note about adding custom textures to T1/TG. You will have to extract any stock textures with their respective folders in order to use them. As long as there is a fam folder in the T1/TG directory, The engine will not use the fam.crf like T2 does.
