The Thief games and FMs have provided me with an outlet for my frustrations; an escape from a reality that can sometimes be overwhelming and disturbing, to say the least. That's not to say that I've withdrawn from or am not in touch with reality (well -not entirely ;) ), but being able to immerse myself in the world of Thief is at times rather like a vacation for me. There are only a few TV shows that I deign to watch, since I believe that most television programs are aimed at either 10 year olds or people who've become so 'desensitized' that they're positively jaded (mho). I can only read for so long before I start getting a tad antsy and outdoor activities are always subject to weather conditions (especially in winter; especially in the Midwest!), so imo playing Thief is the perfect answer to 'What do I feel like doing?'.
Thief has also provided me with the pleasure of becoming a member of the TTLG community; a place where I've met and become friends with so many diverse and interesting people. And this is a community; regardless that it's online. There have been countless times when members have hit rough patches in their lives and have received the comfort, solace, advice and friendship of other TTLG members. I'd never have found this place if it weren't for Thief. :thumb:
