Title of the thread should read. When did you first start playing Thief.
I first started in 1999. I have not constantly played it throughout the years.

When the gaming magazine I preferred at that time published a short article about "Thief - The Dark Project", I wasn't too impressed. However, a somewhat longer article one or two issues later catched my interest. That must have been in late summer of 1999.
I downloaded the Bafford demo and the Assassins demo and was more than pleased. In late autumn of the same year, I finally got Thief Gold, and played almost nothing else for a few weeks.
Thief II followed around March 2000, and I played through that in about two weeks. I changed my playing style from a Doom-like "Anything that moves has to DIE!" to another style relying mainly on the blackjack. I played Thief I once again on the next difficulty level, and finally on the third difficulty level. Then I found the first fan missions and began to play them in early 2001. Two difficulty levels in Thief II remained to be done, thus I played it again twice, then moved on to more fan missions.
My computer was finally ready for Thief III in April 2005, which kept me busy for about three or four weeks. Since then, it's fan missions for Thief I and II. Missions for Thief III are yet to come.
So, it's about seven years since my first contact with the Thief Universe, and it's certainly not over yet.

All started in 2003. Thief2: TMA was the first game I played on my brand new computer.

You are a master of grammar and a scrub at tact.

You got my point, so what if I said that? Have a better suggestion? Excuse me if I disturbed your delicate condition with my so called tact.

Hey, chill both of you.
What Jonas meant was that altough the thread could be accordingly named, it doesn't matter at all. Now, can you go back to thieveing please? I just got your purses and they're too light.

My first contact with the series was in 98/99. I was pretty young back then but found the first two levels quite amusing. Then I came to Cragscleft, and the zombies in the mines scared me so bad I simply couldn't continue. Then, about a year ago, I decided to try and finish the damn level, but I soon became hooked. Shortly thereafter, I bought The Metal Age and Deadly Shadows.

Its kind of funny. I used to read PC Accelerator (which was a great mag god rest its soul), they basically lead me on to every great game I ever played (except rune, we thought we found that on our own until we read back and saw it in there). They put us onto SS2, tribes2 and the thief series. I read an article in there about thief I think, 2000 sometime and we downloaded the demo and played it. This was right after my friend got cable (uncapped oh sweet god) and we were warez'n like it was going out of style (which it soon did), this was when full game dl's from webpages was rocking and we would be getting games at 800KBps and playing them in 15 mins flat.
We DL'd the whole game and didnt stop playing it until it was over. We would all sit in my friends room, cover all the windows until it was pitch dark and play all day pratically. We bought the game before thief2 came out but I dont remember if we bought it before we finished it or not, sometimes those warez would be buggy, I guess this was somewhat before ISO's were popular (at least to noobs such as we were).
Almost as soon as we beat it, thief2 demo came out and soon after that we bought thief 2 so it was like the greatest two months of all time. We all enjoyed the tdp story slightly more but thought thief2 was more fun to play.
I've been replaying them fairly regularly ever since, but maybe not to the extent that some of you people do. I kind of hate to ruin my nostagia for the game in certian maps, the first time I played down in the bonehoard was the last, because I still have such a vivid memory of playing it for the first time I almost dont want to play it again to ruin that memory. I usually wait until I've forgotten a good bit of it before going back, I've only played tdp twice I think, once right after we got it and once 1.5 years ago. I've played thief2 somewhat more, since the maps are more fun to replay (to me), but I've only beaten the whole game once (the last map is exuasting, because I almost always play it until its done because I dont want to disrupt the mood).
