I was never able to corner enough haunts to try this out, but when chased by several enemies at once, it is easy (presuming they are all melee opponents) to kill them in this fashion. Simply run around in circles, not circle strafing, but facing where you're running. Keep them on the inside edge of the circle you are running and swing your sword. If you turn towards them just a bit during the swing, you'll hit them and as long as you keep running, they can't hit you. I was able to take out a group of 6 enemies this way, taking no damage myself.
