ok, i thought multiplayer was going to be a good experience. It was not. The main problems are that you cannot have many mods, and your skills are hard to maintain. If i could have the mods and the skills that i have in the game, it would be fun. Its not fun at all to pick up an assault rifle and see it shoot all over the place. When the gun is like that, it cant kill anything! Just my opinion. And i was wondering if this was a disappointment to other people. And if a lot of people paly deus ex multiplayer.

All of those options that you're complaining about are things that are set by the server hosting the game. The server decides how many augs you start with, and how many you gain every time you get a frag. The server decides what the starting skill level is for weapons and items, and how many skill points you gain every time you get a frag. (You *are* aware that when you get a frag, you have to go into the skill menu and distribute those points, right?)
The fact that when you are killed, you lose all the skill points and augs you have accumulated means that you have to play a bit more strategically to avoid getting killed. Also, be aware that with your augs, you decide which augs you get and in what order you get them, you have to set them in in your player preferences somewhere (I forget where off the top of my head).
In any event, if you had a bad experience with DXMP, try playing on a different server, you might be surprised at how different it can be. <img src="smile.gif" border="0">

Judging by the Gamespy stats on average 50 players are playing DXMP. Naturally there are in the course of a day peak times with many more participants, and times when most servers are empty.
IMO DXMP is quite enjoyable when the server settings are neither too restrictive nor making the player too powerful on respawn.

I have been trying to play mp since I got cable 2 weeks ago ( as 56k hell was so bad it wasn't worth trying ) but I don't know how to buy skills from the skills menu that comes up during play.<br /> Someone pleez tell me.
Even with my cable connection the mp still lags horribly - such a disappointment, as I thought getting cable would cure that. Maybe it's because I'm in the UK?

Ahhhhh
Newbies <img src="cool.gif" border="0">
In the first place, try to play only on<br />'Basic Team Deathmatch' games till you start to get the hang of it.
Also, when you single click on a server, info on it will appear<br />down below, try not to play on 'non-dedicated' servers, because these are generally the laggy ones.
You can edit/find out about buying etc in the 'settings' menu under keyboard/mouse.
When someone seems to kill you all the time, press 'K' when you die, and you will see their choice of augs, feel free to copy them <img src="graemlins/sly.gif" border="0" alt="[Sly]" />
