@Koki: Out of interest, do you think that all non-hardcore games are worse games? What is your definition of hardcore games? Is, say, Lego Star Wars basically the same as Angry Birds in terms of how good a game it is? And do you take the same approach in all media (books, films, music etc.)?

It varies from probably two to six hours a day. I don't work or go to school. Sometimes I have been known to return to an old multiplayer game and just play deathmatch/CTF all night though. I remember when I was younger, I would play Quake 2 CTF all night and most of the weekends.

That's a weird question. Do you think all non-racing cars are slower cars? You can have fun with a casual game for a few hours, but it's pretty obvious to me that it will always be worse than a "hardcore" game of the same relative quality.

The real question is, who gives a fuck? And also, what makes your opinion more valid?

The real question is, srsly, are you gonna finish eating that apple pie?, can I have it?
Thx!

I checked my Steam stats and figure this is about right. Plus a couple of hours XBox time on top of that. More if we have friends over and play with the kinect, but I don't classify that as gaming as such.

Because I spend my free time thinking about whether the base-building is essentially just a part of a techtree or not and what ramifications does it have for the rest of the game.

As opposed to spending your free time thinking about how many women you're going to plow this week?

You know, it is funny you create a topic like this. I was having similar thoughts earlier. I played WAY too much Quake/Unreal/Team Fortress when I was young. Now I'm 27 and I'm considering sending "thank you" notes to the people who develop Securom and similar systems. If modern games didn't contain these things,, I would likely still be an addict: playing all the games up until all hours of the night. Yet now I'm afraid to let new releases near my machine.
This is a GOOD thing for my health, because it encourages me to get away from the desk, go outside, and spend time with family. So, thank you Securom, Starforce, and any others who have helped convince me to put down the mouse and keyboard to spend time with my family while I still can.
The reason these thoughts cross my mind is that I have a friend whom I met back in 2000 on Unreal. Since then, both of her parents have passed away. I still talk to this friend every week.

That is the first human thing I have ever heard you say. Cheers.
