I couldn't run Ishar, because you had to select the language with keypad :D

19, male, started gaming mostly on the id classics - Keen4, Wolf3D and Doom, probably about age 3. I remember playing co-op (you move, I shoot) on all those games, but the memory of exactly what came first doesn't quite exist. There was also a couple of learning games which I think my dad wrote. Later on, I recall playing on my friend's Atari ST quite a bit, our favourite game was Cabal (Which we then pronounced 'cabble'). That was probably between ages 4-6. Then there was Quake and around about the same time I was playing that, I had a friend with a SNES which was great for Worms 1 and Street Fighter 2 multiplayer. After that, it was mostly PC gaming, got an N64 around 2000, a PS2 a bit later, and a gamecube after that, but I mostly played on the PC.
To be honest, over the last six months or so I haven't really been gaming that much, which is quite a change for me. When I do game, it's usually just a casual fuck-around, rather than something I get deep into. Maybe there's just no really good, engrossing games around that I haven't already played...

34, Male. I started really getting into games with my Atari 2600 in 1981. Stampede, Megamania, Defender, and Haunted House were some faves.
I got into some IBM gaming in 1984 with some early RPGs and then the NES hit('86 for me)...I forgot all about PC and went console crazy for 4 years. Been a mixed bag of PC/console since.

Male 38, first computer was a ZX81 in '81, played Frogger, 1k chess (really), Monster Maze and others, then bought a Spectrum and a new world opened, Manic Miner, Chucky Egg (thought about that game today funnily enough) etc, etc.
Never really stopped since, except for a bit recently.

Male 25,
Started back in the 80's on the Sega Master System with Phantasy Star and Ys. the PC days started with Donkey Kong on my grandpas dos 2.something dual 5.25" floppy drive PC, then moved on to Wolfenstien 3D. I still remember when Doom and Rise of the Triad completely blew my mind.

Oh, I meant to post this awhile ago, but now I've got a perfect thread to do it in without wasting board space.
About a week ago, I was going through my Magical Attic of Lost Wonders trying to find some old photos, and I found...oooh...my old Turbografx 16. I bought it for $30 from a neighbors grandson years ago, and only ever had three games for it. Still, it's still a neat little footnote in the history of videogames I happen to own.
And of those three games, one of them was Splatterhouse. So awesome. :D

Not wanting to add to the surplus of testosterone already present in this thread but yes - 35 and male. As with Namdrol, first real computer was a ZX81 (although my parents had an Apple IIe that I used when available). Games like Mazogs and 3D monster maze got me started, but I also spent countless hours typing in magazine and book listings quite a few of which didn't work. Even so, the patience required for 'poking' numerous machine code lines set me up for a career in programming.
From there, an Amstrad CPC464 was the only stepping stone to a PC. It was the platform that allowed me to learn Z80 assembler, basic electronics and introduced me to complex number calculations in the form of fractals.

30, male. I started gaming when I was about 6 or so, on the MSX1. My father typed in a couple of simple games from a magazine. Later on I copied tapes full of games from friends (the MSX was huge in Holland, lots of my friends had one). Back then I never bought a single game, I wouldn't have had the money even if I wanted to. My fondest memories are from Konami games like King's Valley, Knightmare, etc. Seriously, 75% of all good MSX games were made by Konami.
At school we had C64s, my favorite game on the C64 was Frantic Freddie, such awesome music.

Male, 29
The earliest game I remember playing... I'm going to go with the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy text adventure on Commodore64. I don't remember playing the game, really. Just rummaging around in all the cool stuff that came in the box. I was only four years old when it was first released, but I think I played it a couple years after that.
I have even earlier memories of loading games into a Commodore Vic20 via cassette tape, but I have absolutely no idea what the games were.
I hadn't realized I was so young in those memories. Not sure what to think about this revelation that all of my earliest memories involve computers and video games.

- Early 90s: SNES (SUUUUPER Mariooo) and Amiga/Atari ST (soooo many games, Dizzy series, Cannon Fodder, Monkey Islands, Speedball, DreamWeb...)
- Late 90s: 166Mhz Intel PC (the early days, HL1, Thief, Grim Fandango) and PS1 (Silent Hill, Metal Gear Solid)
- Early 00s: PC (Max Paynes, Operation Flashpoint, HL2) and PS2 (Burnout, GTA3)
