i was 15 when i first played Thief , back in 99 like february or march i think :D , i saw the game on my Friend desk and that guy with the hood and an arrow in the cover made me think "that game looks interesting :cheeky: ", so i stole it  .
hehe well actually i asked my friend what kind of game was and he say that he haven't play it yet so he gave it to me , and i became a Thief player :thumb:

I was 30 when I played the TDP demo in either late 98 or early 99 off a gaming mag coverdisc. I was going to buy the full game, but I heard about the Gold version coming out, so I waited for that. Been playing Thief on and off ever since.

I found a copy of "Thief - The dark project" (Not gold) when I was about 8-9 years old.
I'm 13-14 years old now, and have played all the games in the series (T2 is my favourite) and have recently started with some DromEding.

I was about... say, 10 or 11? Or possibly 12. I can't remember the exact date. I would have been 10 in '98, fill in the rest. But, I have a feeling it was '98 or '99 when I first tried T:TDP:D My father got a sound card (sound blaster live! I'm guessing, sounds like it could be the same pack other taffers mentioned) which included some games: Thief: The Dark Project CD (full, not demo!) , Descent 3, Magic Carpet: The Netherworlds (I think that's the name), The Need For Speed: High Stakes (I think it came with the sound blaster IIRC)... these were all in separate cheap white paper CD sleeves.:) Well, I remember not knowing what it was, but I was able to try it out on my father's PC around that time, and I remember it was indeed a bit scary for me then. I know the Haunts scared the shit out of me back then. At the time I didn't know they were called Haunts, so a buddy of mine and I used to call them Skull Warriors.:laff:
Thief 2: TMA I bought from ebay I believe, in one of those trapezoidal boxes. I bought it the summer of 2001, which would make me about 13. I think I still have the money order paper, which is very worn out.:) I remember going down to the mailbox almost everyday (I think... well many times anyway) waiting for it to come in the mail. I was so anxious. One day I went down there to see, and the mailman was there and he just handed me the package IIRC.
Thief: Gold I bought after 2001 I'm sure, but I can't recall when exactly. More recent I know.
I think I may have a case of deja vu though; I think I posted some of the information in the "who are you?" thread. Sorry for double information. I guess it doesn't matter too much, considering this is a different topic.

Nickie is the only one who comes close. I was 50 when TDS was bundled with my new video card, so I started playing the Thief series backwards. I must say how glad I am to have played TDS first, as I actually quite enjoyed it (obviously enough to buy the others), however after playing TMA and fan missions, I find that it's impossible to play TDS anymore.

My dad got the same soundblaster game pack in spring 2001 (I would have been 8). I watched him play Bafford (in hindsight, it was hilarious - he seemed to think that the Scepter was a shovel located in the basement area) and it took him about a week on Expert. I played it on Normal in a day (killed everybody). My dad's never touched it since. All the undead missions scared the crap out of me and I skipped a lot of missions on my first play through. Got TG and played the game properly in 2002.
I also got T2 in spring 2001, but didn't play it until probably 2003.
Got T3 when it came out. Played the Bloodline Opal mission and haven't gone past it since (I intend to play it this summer).

I would have been 13 or 14 back in 98 or 99 when I first played Thief and couldn't even get into Bafford's manor. I used to just replay the training over and over cos Baffords was too hard for me!

I was 18 years old... There was a demo of first Thief inside the 'Reset' magazine. Back then it was very fresh and realistic gameplay to me. I felt like the guardians were living entities: Some of them were speaking with each other, some were drunken, other dreaming or just babbling...Their behaviours and all the sound environment was absolute novum to the games. All that things, and of course the new idea with sneaking and thieving in gameplay(not just running and killing everybody) delighted me and I already knew that I will have the full version of Thief for myself ;) And today I must say I wasn't disappointed at all;)
