I was 30 when I was at a friend's house reading PC Accelerator and spotted a preview for TDP. Being a big D&D fan, I was really interested in a game that let me play a thief, since most fantasy games were all about the warrior and wizard types. I thought it would be the coolest game ever, and sure enough it still is.

hmm, I just read your story jtr7.. quite interesting.
So if I understand you correctly, you were unable to play through dark project or thief 2 until 2006 because you did not own the games nor a computer to run them?

HAHA! No worries, we generally think that's cool.
Thief is enjoyed by people of all ages! The oldest age I remember hearing for a TTLG taffer, years ago, was 84.:sly:
 I wonder... Where is or who is this taffer thou speak of?

Correct, sNeaksieGarrett. But I had copies of the texts, movies, and wave files on a CD I burned, and printouts of the maps, so I could continue enjoying as much of the Thief Universe as possible. I just couldn't play.:( But I could keep enjoying the story, and making notes for the ETU.
DexterUndefine: I'd like to know who that was/is, too! I think the person registered before TTLG switched servers, so I probably won't be able to find him/her in the (

TTLG calendar.

Ah, I see... it is too bad you had to wait so long to play it!:o
But that's cool you were at least able to enjoy some of the content surrounding the game.:) I can't get my friend to play thief, but he really likes the conversations from the game...

I was barely 12 when I played the Thief 1 demo, and after a couple of years passed, I became hooked after replaying the demos and I went out and got both Thief I and II.

I was 31 or 32 when I bought TG. I had played plenty of arcade and console games, but TG was my first PC game. I've played some great ones since then, but Thief is still the best.

The year was 1999. I had heard of Thief, seen it in the store, but never thought much of it, until one day I realized my PC actually had a graphics accelerator and I didn't know about it. So I downloaded a bunch of PC game demos, one of which was the Thieves' guild demo for thief. I bought the game the next day
I was 18 years old. What a glorious year 1999 was. Raves, freedom, and thief :joke:

I was ten when I first played TDP, well I got stuck one ''bonehoard'' for at least a month because all the zombies scared the hell out of me. But finally I got over it and completed the damn (later great) mission, the lost city wasnt so scary after all. I still remember when I first played the final mission in the maw of chaos, it was such a great feeling exploring the whole level without knowing which enemy you encounter next or what happens next; mixed with the legendary TDP tension....just awesome.
Never had that kind of tension again in all the hundred games I played in the last 10 years.
Wish I could be ten again just to play TDP as a brand new game. ;)

A couple of the missions creeped me out at 31. I can't imagine playing them at 10.
