Hey there taffers!
I got a little problem. I want to link a VicFloorLamp to a light switch on the wall, and in other rooms I want to link multiple wall lights to a single switch, but I don't know how to do either of those. I checked out the dromed tutorials and did this for the VicFloorLamp:
Quote:
Just linking a switch to light doesn’t cut. Here are the steps to get a light to work with a On/Off lever or switch:
Switch: Edit the properties of the switch archetype (NOT the concrete object), and look at Tweq>Joints: property. Make note of any JointXAnimC properties set with the Sim parameter. Now, edit the Tweq>JointStates: property of the concrete switch object (NOT the archetype). Any joints that had the JointXAnimC property set with the Sim parameter in the Tweq>Joints: dialog box need to be set with the On parameter. If the light will be off initially, set the Reverse parameter for the joints also. Now link the switch to the light with a ControlDevice link.
I didn't entirely understand why since I'm still new to DromEd, but I just copied the instructions. Well... nothing. The lamp stays on no matter how often I frob that switch.
What do I have to do? Would be nice if someone could explain how exactly light statuses work.
Oh, and I haven't found any flames to add on top of a candlestick or inside a fireplace. I haven't found any in the Object Hierarchy's light category, at least.

The VicFloorLamp is not animated, but static.
See this page
(
http://dromed.whoopdedo.org/dromed/difflights)
and the 'Make the Light Animated' section.
One thing not mentioned on that page:
In the AnimLight property, set the Mode to Minimum or Maximum brightness.
You can now link a switch to the lamp (ControlDevice).

The easiest way is to create a switch then an OldElecWallLight and change its model to "viclampj". Change the object's dimensions accordingly and finally link the switch to the light with the ControlDevice property.
