The light gem isn't always illuminated in that mission. This is just false memory. It's just very bright there.

Just increase the Acuity of your AI's vision cones until they can see the player where you think the player should be seen.

as far as i remember that gems never gets dark in that mission even if you go to the shadows, the brightness of the level does not affect the gem light.

Check your own mission.

yes, i noticed that, so it's that that makes the gem more visible?

More or less. Depends on the settings.
Yandros on 7/9/2017 at 16:36
Just for the record, ambient light settings have no impact at all on the light gem or player visibility.

Yep. I mixed it up with the sunlight setting in this mission.
but what about ambient light zones?
ND Modders notes
Quote:
Ambient Light Zones
-------------------
Very similar to fog zones, it's possible to have up to 8 alternative ambient light settings in a mission. The zone
selection is also done in the "Local Weather" property on room brushes. The ambient light zones are configured in
"Rendering Parameters" under "Mission Parameters..." (edit_file_vars).
After changing the zone in "Local Weather" rooms have to be re-compiled and the mission re-lit (portalization would
also achieve this) for the changes to have full effect. After only changing the zone light levels the mission has
to at least be re-lit.
One thing to keep in mind is that objects between two ambient zones, like a door with two different ambient
zones on each side, will only receive one type of ambient lighting, that will be seen from both the front and
back. A little extra care may be needed if two ambient zones differ largely, possibly requiring a third ambient
zone with a light level in between, that is used on the doorway cell as a transition.
Each ambient light zone (including global ambient) also has an additional ambient light level parameter, used when
calculating an object's light level as seen by AI ("AI Vis Bias"). This allows having a bright daylight mission, or
bright parts of a mission with higher ambient level, where the AI light level (as also seen on the light gem) won't
go entirely black in locations where no brush/object lights reach.

that's exactly what i tried this morning, but since i have no light gem i wasn't sure it was working, now that's have tested with the light gem i see it really works with those visibility control changed settings.
Thank you all for your help and suggestions.
