Suddenly a lot of things make sense.

I spent an hour or two on the first one so far but didn't finish yet. Have you worked on learning how to do this? :D

Hi Russ, I´ve been busy in the last two weeks with moving on to Lamego, sadly i no longer live in Porto, but now i have resumed my new mission and will try to find a suitable tuturial to create transparent textures.
one hour or two!!!??? I didn´t know it took so long to make a transparent texture.

It does when you start from a bad or troublesome source image, like that one.

Try taking a photo, putting it on a background layer, and recreating the shape with curves and such on a new layer above. You can do the same thing in 3d-modelling programs with lines, shapes, and texture baking functionality. It's time-consuming, but your textures will be size-independent and won't rely on the quality of the source image that much.

That's not long at all. Creating a good texture, transparency or not, requires a significant expenditure of effort. The better the source image the easier it is, but it is always work. You should understand that to appreciate what Necrobob did for you. I agree with Judith, for something a simple as the gate, I would have just modeled it properly as a 3d object and not gone the route of an image with transparency. The transparency never looks good close up because there is no 3d to it.

Understanding the effort involved might also make you think twice about throwing a lot of textures out and asking everyone to do all that work for you, instead of trying to learn how to do it yourself. :p
