I will admit that I mostly bought Emergence because Steam was bundling the original game with it for nowt.

The only downside I can recall is not to have Blade talk anything. The best thing in Sin was Blades and JCs dialogue and ranting.
Someone made a mod for it that used dialog from the first game that fixed this issue. It quite well done and improved the experience quite a lot. The game is still a tired FPS though that feels more like a HL2 expansion than it does SIN.

I definitely remember seeing boxed copies in my neck of the woods. It'd be no different than a retail release of a Valve Source game, it's basically a Steam pre-load sold on a disc.

I got retail copies of all my Steam-ready games; Sin Emergence, Orange Box and FEAR 2.
Hmm interesting. I've wanted to try Emergence but am not able to purchase things online, and I never heard anything about a retail release. So thanks for the heads-up guys, I'll have to look into it. :)

Why can't you purchase things online?

LOL. Ahh go ahead, you can make the joke if you want! :p
I know what you're getting at, but it's not that the parents won't let me use the card. Rather it's a matter of the family not really owning a card in the first place.
Call them traditional (or insane! :cheeky: ) but if it can't be bought using the old fashioned cash-in-hand or cheque methods, they tend to avoid it.

You don't really need a credit card, though. They take Paypal, so check with your local bank.
