I thought he was talking about the missing textures, the ones not in the EP. I thought he liked the ones already in the EP, like bluestone ...

... However, a lot of the old textures look absolutely horrible next to the new ones, which seem to have an insane level of detail and some bump-mapping. No matter how big or sharpened I make an image, the game doesn't want to render it as "nicely" as the EP textures. Therefore, I was wondering what process was used to make these textures so that I can upgrade the existing ones I want to use. ...
I'n now totally confused about his intent. My advice? make your missions with the OM textures and let fans decide if they want to override them.

Converting the texture to rbg color, increasing both the size and resolution, applying shaprening techniques, manually editing out stray pixels, then shrinking it back down to normal size.
Every part of this sentence makes my brain hurt in ways I didn't think were possible.

Heh, ok, here's what I mean:
Original bluestone on the left, new on the right. Looks nothing like the original. Everything ELSE looks pretty, though! (actually, to be fair, it IS a well-done texture, but it's not what I want and totally deviates from the vision the original designers had for their OMs)

Zylon: Sorry =(

That's because that is
NOT the EP core_1/blustn you're using. I don't know where it is or where you got it, but it's not the one in the EP2 that I have. And the version of city/win11 I have also has the original green bricks. So I think you're getting those textures perhaps from one of the HD texture packs, but not the EP - the EP's prime directive was and is to be as faithful as possible to the original textures.
Edit:
Uploaded the EP2 version for you to see -

I'm using whatever came with the latest TafferPatcher.
Though taking a closer look, the only ep/Fam texture I have is a Skyhack. All the textures that are giving me trouble are in a folder called "NTEX" o_O
Ok, you may have just solved my problem! Off to find the full EP! Thanks!

That's not the right one either. There's a second version which is much more like the style of the original.
Steele - those high res textures might be from the HD mod. Or maybe NTEX

Mine is from the downloaded EP2, so I'm not sure why it wouldn't be the right one unless NV made a change in an update to the archive after I got it. When I get home I'll download the latest from the thread and compare.

It's quite likely, that texture changed at least (and I think more than) once during the EP2.

They're both in core_1. The old one is .png and the current one is .dds.
Yandros on 10/8/2016 at 15:02
Aha, well I have both but I uploaded the PNG in order to be able to display it in the browser. I didn't realize they were different images.
