Umm... you know it's another universe there.
I agree mostly with The Shroud. Keepers aren't all that great, he steals only from assholes and ofcourse sets balance in the universe (though i never get this part - why?).
Garrett also seemingly loves danger eh :P At least from all the suicidal missions his been through, it looks that way.
As for loneliness, he might have it diffrent. Perhaps completely enough with sitting in teh tavern.

That, clearing, was a good'un! Personally, I think even if Garrett had the choice to retire, he wouldn't. He's something of a thrill-seeker, he loves what he does, and he just happens to be very good at it.
