We are debating cutting our cable bill ($100/mo.) and opting for Netflix and Hulu Plus instead (roughly $20/mo.). Does anyone have any experience with Hulu Plus? Trying to figure out if it is going to do the trick... pros/cons appreciated.

Me and Starrfall started using it a month or more ago. We don't have cable, never have, and there are plenty of full season shows available via Hulu. Full series of Lost and BtVS! Also they're negotiating to get the Daily Show back.
After the recent talk about Netflix, I'm really hoping that this kind of entertainment distribution model settles in hardcore. Movies via Netflix, TV via Hulu - that's what I'm hoping is the new way to do things.
Anyway. We use it, we're pleased with it, and I'm hoping that as things consolidate more and more Hulu will get even better. I was just saying the other night that if Hulu managed to provide a nice robust range of current and archived programming I would be happy to pay $20 / month to pick and choose my television.
Recommended.

I subscribe to Netflix, and hit up free Hulu all the time. While they don't offer up every single thing I'm interested in watching, they still have more than enough to keep me entertained for a good while yet. Between the two, I doubt I'm gonna be running out of new movies and TV shows anytime soon.
I haven't touched the TV in months now, and have already downgraded my cable subscription to just the basic channels. Once I get off my ass and buy an HD antenna for the local stations, I won't have a reason to even keep that around.

Hulu still doesn't caption most of their shows right?

Thanks for the replies.
Does Hulu Plus allow streaming different shows to different devices (i.e. wife and I watching one show on one TV while kids watch another show on another TV)? Can't seem to find a straight answer on this one.

Netflix is okay depending on what you're looking for. We ditched cable about a year ago and started using the instant watch via xbox. More movies and tv than I'll ever watch, problem is, I don't want to watch about 90% of it. They have some good shows like The Office, Weeds, Dexter, etc. but they are few and far between. There's LOTS of seasons of King of the Hill, 30 Rock, and big cable stuff, except the stuff we (my wife) actually wants to watch, like SVU and NCIS. It also takes a LONG time for them to get even the first season of some shows that are already long gone. I'd browse the instant watch stuff and see it if fits your needs. I'm currently looking around for something that has more recent shows and movies on instant watch. Netflix has *everything* if you want to order the discs, but we don't think that far ahead, and neither do our kids, so it's a bit meh when you get into an "I need to vegetate NOW" mode.

I just got netflix streaming +1 DVD @ at a time when I got the Wii. It has slashed our cable TV viewing in 1/2. Apple TV and Hulu Plus may be the icing on the fuck-cable cake for us. I am going to give it a couple more months, though. I still really like using On Demand, Showtime, and ESPN.

I too got rid of cable a year ago...too expensive.
I picked up netflix and venture over to hulu occasionally (all in all I don't watch that much tv) and stream sports online.

Chiming back in because I was looking through the entire currently-available Hulu catalogue and found a CRAPLOAD of shows I will happily watch all over again.
Firefly, Lexx, American Dad! (which we're already watching). We can't find our DVD of Arrested Development season 2, so that was nice to have on Hulu. I like Buffy, Angel, and the A-Team, (lol plus Airwolf, but I'm not sure I can watch much of that), there's Nova and Kitchen Nightmares and the David Susskind Show (oh yes, oh yes. AND The Nature of Things). I continue to list vaguely things like Remington Steele, the Rockford Files, and other favourites from my younger days (ROBOTECH ALL OVER THE PLACE OMFG). I can watch Smack the Pony, Black Books, Spaced, and the original Voltron series. I got WKRP in Cincinnati, X-Files, Law & Order SVU, The Office (UK and US), Quantum Leap, and Elvira's Movie Macabre.
Holy shit I haven't got time to tell you about this. I have things to see! Programs to watch! 1936 Flash Gordon or the old British television Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy? TOO MANY OPTIONS

I too use a combo of Hulu Plus and Netflix thanks to both running on my iPad.
