6 dollars gets you:
A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Geniusby Dave Eggers
Abandonby Meg Cabot
Blood Meridianby Cormac McCarthy
Foundby Margaret Peterson Haddix
Junkyby William S. Burroughs
On a Pale Horseby Piers Anthony
Stolenby Lucy Christopher
The Satanic Versesby Salman Rushdie
Considering that audiobooks usually cost around 10 bucks, this is a pretty sweet deal. I like Cormac McCarthy so I got this mostly just for Blood Meridian. Kinda interested in the Burroughs and Rushdie books too, but I'm unfamiliar with the rest. Anyone here read the others? Any good?

Going to have to read On a Pale Horse. Have read a few of Piers Anthony's books many years ago. Unfortunately I cannot get on with audio books, I guess I'm just too fussy about accents that "colour" a story.
Thanks for the heads up.

Yeah, I thought this was a brilliant idea. Didn't particularly want any this time around, but I hope they do a bunch of these. Non-fiction as well.

Don't bother. Unless you're twelve.

Gave On a Pale Horse a chance, but it's pretty much as Faf says. The story spends too much time being impressed by itself for how
out there it is. Gave up on it after a few chapters. Listening to Vampirates right now and it's pretty much the same thing, it's intended for a younger audience. Really tried listening to Blood Meridian as well but it failed to hold my attention. I kept zoning out, and eventually I just had to give up on it. I loved the audiobook versions of No Country and The Road, so this was a real let down.
The bundle did not turn out to be a complete waste however, because I found one absolutely fantastic book in here.
True Grit, written by Charles Portis and narrated in a wonderful southern drawl by author Donna Tart. I enjoyed the Coen brothers film version just fine, but the book is way better. Perhaps one of the best audiobooks I've listened to! I encourage everyone who bought this thing to give it a listen, you'll be hooked before the first chapter is over! Everyone else might want to check out (

Yeh I remember reading some Piers Anthony books when I was around 10-11, thought they were decent, then when I read some couple years later I couldnt believe how rubbish they were and that I had actually liked them. And the Xanth series lol.
