For sure, the Steam version was available from the get-go, so if my desire to play the game right away had ever exceeded my aversion to Steam, I would have played that one. (I do in fact have a Steam account with a sizeable number of games, and I presume I'll use it again at some point to play some of them, but nothing has twisted my arm to do so in a pretty long time now.)
As it is I grabbed the HIB9, so I'm sorted (and it includes the expansion, so that's cool). I'll be writing FrozenByte some email about this, though.
