Played half an hour of She Remembered Caterpillars. Looks nice, but I'm not enjoying the puzzles, nor is the narrative pulling me in. Played 73 min of Dandara, didn't like the movement system at first but I'm kinda coming around on it.

I'm bumping this thread because
Kingdom Come: Deliverance is the main Humble Monthly game of July. That's a good enough reason to subscribe to Humble Monthly for a month or a few. There's also
Surviving Mars of course, and it looks somewhat interesting, and as usual, there'll be more games that will be revealed later.
Also, the (

A Short Hike, which was a Humble Original, just came out on Steam with added content. If you subscribed to Humble Monthly in April you can now find a Steam key for it in your Humble key inventory. Get it, it's one of the best games of the year if you ask me. :thumb:

Nice, I was sad when it ended and kept going back to poke around. Looks like I skipped April's monthly; I wonder if they updated the Trove version with the extras.

August's Humble Monthly games are Slay the Spire and Squad. Slightly underwhelming, I thought at first, but on closer look Slay the Spire actually looks pretty cool. Squad, though? I don't think I've even heard of it before, and since it seems to be a multiplayer FPS, I'm not interested at all.
In other news, there's also a Crusader Kings II bundle with the main game and (all?) the DLC available at the moment that might be of interest to someone. I think I tried one of the Paradox strategy games many many years ago, must have been some old Europa Universalis game, and I gave up pretty quickly as it was such a complicated mess. Is CK2 at least a bit easier to learn?

It's still a Paradox made Grand Strategy Game. You should expect to have to spend 20+ hours learning the basics and then another 100+ hours learning advanced stuff. Before you add in the various DLC where you may have to spend more time learning new systems and game mechanics.

Squad is great fun though. It's based on a Battlefield 2 mod (Project Reality) that focused on realism and teamwork. (

Nope. One of the things that makes it bearably easy though, is that there isn't a proper way to play. It's healthy to approach it like a rogue-like where you get to keep playing as your heir.

This is about the same point, but the Paradox grand strategy games are IMO best played as role playing, where you just roll with whatever's going on and engage as best you can figure, rather than as a traditional strategy or 4X game.
I mean, if you don't have the energy to learn the systems all that deeply, you can absolutely play the game as a bumbling ruler that doesn't have the energy to learn the systems around him, and then you just experiment with it. And the game will roll with you and give you an interesting story out of it, probably not a very successful one, but an interesting one. This is one of the better ways to figure the game out and play it in any event.
CK2 is good especially on the personal level. The weird rules of succession and fealty can be confusing, but anyone can understand a jealous brother that feels betrayed and starts amassing his own army to press a succession claim, dividing the loyalties of different provinces and nobles, that you have to respond to, the army, those provinces and nobles, and the brother and his claim all at the same time. That personal touch especially is what makes CK2 a special game of the Paradox bunch.

So, what's the Humble Spooky Horror Bundle all about? The only game I recognise is the top tier Inside, which I already have and is free on Epic anyway.
1$:
Agony
Butcher
The Town Of Light
BTA:
Darkwood
Beholder 2
