Not sure if this Lazarus411 and Lazarus are one in the same. Lazarus back in the day, did a bunch of work for the Thief taffers, make video's, AVI's. He was pretty good at it. Then like so many, he disappeared.

I don't think he is THAT Lazarus.

Demagogue has a point. Over the last ... christ, what is it, fourteen years now? Over the last roughly decade and a half, I've watched this forum. The "old school" members who are still here went from being bright-eyed newly-enchanted of the great new Internet to being jaded, cold xenophobes.
That's what I think it really is. The whole "why is this place 'dying'" thing is, I think, ultimately a result of the TTLG people becoming disenchanted with the Internet itself.
Lemme give an example of myself. About ten years ago, I met a fellow on an online game. Ten years later, we're still friends of sorts, although it's been rough and there were times when we weren't talking for a year or more. Well, the other day he and I were musing on how we both find it inconceivable that it could happen again today; neither of us even try to make friends like that again. The reason? We're no longer as open as we once were on the Internet. We're no longer optimistic about it.
I could go on but this is TTLG and I'm not sure where I'm even going with this, let alone if I have a decent point behind it.
Anyway, farewell, Lazarus, you surely will be ... um, missed.

I don't think he is either, but, Martin asked who Lazarus was. Too many of them anyway.

Internet is unrelated, it's just that people grow older.

So...why do people like to get all dramatic and announce their departures? Never got that. Especially when they're not physically moving or relocating. Weird, I think there's a case study there somewhere.
Also, it always seems to be the people no one knows or have barely heard of/from.

It's a logical paradox of sorts. If you no longer want to be part of an online community, then formalising it with said online community is completely unnecessary.
