Depends, is the path itself virtual?
If not, then how in the hell did you find a virtual black cat wandering this bloody place, when I haven't even come across a virtual cheeseburger?! :cheeky:

Yeah, I wanna see one o' them burrick burgers! :D :eww:
RavynousHunter on 23/4/2008 at 07:43
Are you sure those are safe for human consumption? :D

I like 'em with Mynell's Special Sauce, but they give me gas something fierce!
RavynousHunter on 23/4/2008 at 20:26
Perhaps thats because most joints grind the WHOLE burrick, instead of removing the gas-production gland FIRST. Honestly, what sloppy cooks... :thumb:

Not to mention, the original game was made with several experimental ideas, not knowing what people would like or not.
Keep in mind, sir, that this discussion is about content not technology. Most of the "experiments" were with the tech itself. The content on the other hand, was already tried and true... :sly:

I hate the zombies too, when they come in hordes of 5 or 10.
"Always go prepared..."
I love to manifest my hatred towards those hellish corpses with flash bombs.

The fact that you hate them proves their effectiveness. They're good enemies, and that's that.

I really don't know about that. Where was it tried and found to be true? Examples, please.

I used to be really afraid of the zombies, too. I could handle zombies in most games, but in Thief they seemed so much more frightening because of your limited resources against them. But if you just stand around in the shadows and observe them for a while, and maybe just play some games with them (get them to chase you or try to turn them on other creatures) without being focused on finishing the level, you may find them easier to put up with.
Zombies really aren't that fearsome, when you think about it, because they move so slowly they're generally pretty easy to avoid. It's the effective use of atmosphere and creepy zombie voices that make them seem more deadly. Now Haunts and Apparitions are another matter entirely. They're creepy and they can kill you fast.
I still get a little creeped out by zombies, but they no longer frighten me so much that I have to stop playing. I still hate it when they're after me and I can't manage to mantle up on a ledge or something.

So hard to take this seriously...
As you know, LGS founded their initial reputation as an elite group of game makers back in the Ultima days... Hello? Might and Magic (friends of Ultima) and Ultima have had these types of Zombies many years ago. We have been used to most of the content Thief presented for years... In fact, Heroes I of Might and Magic had the first animated walking (albeit 2d) zombie with flies circling it's head. And don't get me started on the damn robots... As has been stated, Thief is an amalgamation of design elements, both experimental and calculatingly deadly.
