As a fan from way back it has been quite amusing to watch people fawn over basic rpg elements that have been around for years as if they had just discovered the wheel. :)

Use of shadows and non-combat as primary means to an end?

These discussions always discount, ignore, or even end up with at least one person making fun of true phobics. Which isn't any help to them at all. And assuming phobics don't know that there are ways to overcome, or compensate, doesn't lead to giving helpful advice, either.
Phobia?...a zombie is just slow guard with no weapons, who doesn't patrol, and who can't insult you...I don't get it:confused:
actually it's just 1's and 0's but thats another story...:p

A phobia is an
irrational fear of something. Unless you have a phobia, you are reasonably
not going to understand. It isn't binary code, or pixels, or even about believing one is in danger. It's not anything you could ever understand without receiving a psychological wound, or some overwhelming emotional trauma, which the very young are more susceptible to.
A person who has arachnophobia, for instance, may find simply the mere
shape of a spider--the body, the head, the eight legs--terrifying. They usually know this is irrational but have no control over the reaction. Giving a phobic a hard time and stating the obvious isn't going to help them.:)
Who knows how many of (
http://phobialist.com/) these are based on real cases, and which ones are just word play, but psychological and emotional illnesses are very real conditions, with a million symptoms.
Anyway, if you want the science, just Google "phobias".

Not to get back on topic or anything, but here are some techniques to deal with zombies:
They move slowly and, once they lose sight of you, will not search for long.
They are vulnerable to holy and fire damage. They are not vulnerable to electrical damage. I prefer to clear the Bonehoard of zombies by leading them to chase me up the first ramp and into the room with the fireball trap. It takes a long time, but it's fun and expends no equipment.
Despite being undead, they can drown if you can lead them into deep water, such as in the mines of Cragscleft.
If they're lying down, i.e. inert, they won't hear you. If you get too close they wake up. While they are inert they require less fire or holy damage to destroy. Have you seen that one room in the Bonehoard with all the zombies lying around? One flashbomb can clear the room if you aim it right and don't wake them first.
Do enough damage with arrows or your sword, and a zombie will fall down and become inert. The best technique here is the backstab. Once it is inert, you can destroy or avoid it as you desire. There is an engine bug that sometimes causes inert zombies to do strange things (float in midair and/or stand up) when you quickload, but they are still inert unless you get close to them again.
Like most AIs, they cannot mantle or climb ladders.

Okay, Goldmoon Dawn. Could you list out all the things Thief has that made it a breakthrough game, minus all the things that have been done before, so we can discover what it is that makes Thief unique?

Looks like a photo of a homemade Hammer Haunt, like for a Halloween decoration, or something. Looks like pieces of felt, cut and assembled over a classroom skeleton model.
