I just love the way they explode.
The best thing about zombies. ;)
I do not have a phobia, I just don't like to be scared.
But I've read all your posts and I will try again and follow your advices.
I'm ready to face the zombies, I think.
The problem now is that the game crashes when I load a game.

I used to absolutely abhor zombies, haunts, & ghosts and would avoid any FMs that featured them. But I've just played through Morrowind and am currently playing Oblivion, and I doubt that the nasties in any of Thief games/FMs will ever scare/bother me again.
Kinda like Alice said; 'After this, I shall think nothing of falling down the stairs'.
:cheeky:
(Of course, that doesn't mean I'm going to start playing 'zombie/haunt only' FMs exclusively now (I prefer more of a serious plot-line than just zombie bashing); just that if I run across a few of those baddies in the future I won't freeze/flinch or run away screaming like a little girl. ;) )

I can show you how to get all the inventory items you want if you have three or more of that same item in your inventory. But since you do not have email or private messages turned on, I do not have a way of contacting you.
So if you WANT to know his method using a program called art money, send me a private message.

Where is this picture from? Fanart, screenshot...???
No, my bedroom. It's a full sized Haunt. It's not made of felt and it's not a classroom skeleton model either.
I'm a professional historical costume designer and everything in the picture is real, the skull is a cast from a seven foot guy who died over a hundred years ago.
I also have two Hammer costumes that are also real, which means you can fight in these, the armour is made from 16 gage steel (re-enactment fighting, not larp).

I used to be really afraid of the zombies. So much so that I was never able to complete the Bonehoard, or make my way past the first level of the Cragscleft mines. I developed my so-called phobia for them after the very first time encountering one in said mines, the first body you come across with flies buzzing over it. Not knowing it was a zombie, I went over to investigate what it was, hoping to get some loot..little did i know the freakin' thing actually STOOD UP! Wham bam...as you can guess, in 2 hits, Garret was dead. :p
It wasn't only until recently, like sometime last year or so, a friend of mine on these forums, a somewhat regular lurker, came to know of my fear and especially created a mini fan-mission for me - the simplicity of it may make all you expert modders out there laugh, but really it was an area with a fence down the middle, and he'd set it up such a way that every time I pulled the lever, a cage hidden somewhere would release a zombie.
This basically forced me to stand there and ogle the zombie moaning its way around, while still being safe, and after a while of watching it, I realised it really WAS a slow creature, wandering quite aimlessly, and its moans were actually quite funny.
Needless to say...I completed Bonehoard a few nights afterwards. :)

The zombies never really scared me, they were just kind of annoying. They took away from the feel of thief. In bonehoard, with all the dang zombies around it was impossible to sneak past them. So you either had to kill them or run. Then the feeling of being a thief was gone.
I like the atmosphere of the very first mission. Dark, gritty, more realistic feeling than surreal kind of atmosphere. The creepiest part about thief was that you're in someone elses house and you don't know what to expect. Because of this getting caught felt a lot scarier.
The artwork was also very dull and desaturated, making it feel even more dismal. In contrast to thief 2 and 3 where in thief 2 things feel more modern than medieval making it less creepy and thief 3 things felt more fantastical and magical.
Thief 2 had lots of sneaking around missions but the feel was kind of taken away by slightly brighter shadows and the more modern feel. I know that makes sense with the mechanists but I think they should've made the steam technology grungier looking and feeling.
In thief 3 part of the atmosphere problem was that there was to much ambient light illuminating the shadows. I know it makes sense gameplay wise to see where you're hiding but if they had made the shadows darker, the torchlights dimmer and redder and the moonlight less bright and ambient inside the buildings, it would've felt a lot darker.
Anyways, that's my opinion.
