Try this: Look in your T2 directory and see if darkloader created a file called darkloader current. Delete it. Look also for the darkloader.ini in your T2 directory, if it has been created, delete it. Go back to your darkloader folder and find the darkloader.ini (Configuration setting) Load the Thief Gold fan mission into darkloader. Quit darkloader. Go into the darkloader folder, open the darkloader.ini, and change Type=2 to Type=1 under the name of the fm. Save. Go back and start darkloader again, and press play. See if it starts as a Thief Gold fm.

Try not using any game cd's to run Thief Gold, or Thief 2. With my setup in Darkloader, neither cd is required to play any OM, or Fm.

Thief Gold shows up as Thief 2 in Darkloader because of the NewDark patch which uses the Thief 2.exe, I believe. It's the same for everyone so it's not just you and the only way you can get T1/TG to play in Darkloader is by making the changes to darkloader.ini as darthsLair said. And I think you need to do that every time you play a T1/TG mission.

Some people have had problems and not been able to use Darkloader even with the change to darkloader.ini so they use FMSel instead. I know you've tried FMSel but perhaps you could try again. To run FMSel, you need to find cam_mod.ini in your TG folder. Open with Notepad and you'll find these lines near the top of the page:

; always start the FM Selector (if one is present)
;fm

Remove the ; in front of 'fm' and save. When you double click the TG game icon, FMSel should open.

FMSel is the inbuilt mission loader in the NewDark patch which is what is installed over your original games when you use Tafferpatcher (T2) or TFix (T1/TG). It can be used instead of Darkloader or any other separate mission loader.

I'm not saying there is a conflict but if you have reinstalled the games, then you should have completely removed all the files from the old installations before starting again. And if you use Vista, Win7 or Win8, you should also make sure your games are not installed in Program Files or any other protected folders.

NB. You cannot do anything to stop TG missions appearing as T2 missions, if you are using the NewDark patch that comes with TFix.

update.i completely removed all thief 1/gold/2 and darkloader from comp,then i did a file seach and removed anything left,also cleared out darkloader so my comp was 100% free of thief anything

then i installed thief gold ,full install and darkloader only then i gathered some thief gold fan missions and this is he real deal

any thief gold fan mission that is made for new dark will show up as a thief 2 fan mission no matter what as i dont even have thief 2 on my comp in anyway

also so its not the patch that makes the thief gold missions thief 2 ,and if i use the patch then it will want me to use thief 2 disk to play thief gold mission,and the code in files says type 1 ,but shows type 2 on darkloader

there is so much wrong that i see,but have no way to convey it into text as i am not skilled in that part of computers ,but i can voice it if anyone want to hear?

i think the problem is when all these patches and new dark were done it was all seperate from each other causing conflicts in having then work correct

i use to play unreal tournament 1999 and it had simaler problem over time so many patches you had to keep separate files with same names and switch them back and forth to find out what one is the right one and will not conflict with another file/etc

i feel thief is getting same way,way to many patches and then problems as some patches claim to be all in one,but then i got to get other files later

i am getting depressed now all i want to do is play the newer thief gold fan missions that use new dark,but i want to play them on darkloader ,but it seems either darkloader or the fan missions themselves need to be fixed

i hope this get addressed before newdark takes over the scene,cause alot of people will be left out from the great experience of fan missions,with so many patches needed just to run into problem over and over again,i am only able to deal with most of this as i been around a while and remember those

i feel like i am rabbling now so thank you all again for the help,but i dont think i will be able to fix ,but i tried i just know from experience when you start changing files,it is only bad news later,hence why i think the issue with thief gold missions showing up as t2 need to be corrected instead of telling everyone to start going into there files for a fix,but not realizing it will affect something down the road,and for a noob as myself i will not remember what all the changes i made,forcing a complete uninstall/etc.
