Nice...Nice. Any official people know what the deal is though? i think it may be something else, like the cloak would be too hard to animate, ya know how things like that, as in "The Punisher" game pass through the Player's legs and stuff making it look crappy. His trench coat goes through his legs when u run fast on "The Punisher" perhaps the people who made "Thief" knew this might happen and decided to scrap it.

Did the makers of this game edit out Garrett's Cloak? alot of NPC's in the game say something about a cloak, yet he isn't wearing one...and if you look in the beginning movie, you can see he is wearing one as well...so, does anyone know what the hell is going on?

Seriously people, does anyone know what the deal is about it?

There is no deal. When the first Thief title was created, seeing Garrett's cloak flapping in the wind simply did not matter. The game was then and should be now in first person view.
There is no such thing as Deadly Shadows.

There is no Dana, only Zuul.
Is there a reason Dane made this thread after creating one asking the same question only an hour before?

I pondered that myself for a moment.
:p

Should I post here or in the other similar thread?
Both, I suppose.
At least Dane-The-Thief hasn't repeat posted on three different boards or ignored our responses like that one noob recently did.:thumb:
The voice-overs are done separately and often before the development is finished.
I suspect there were earlyintentions of giving Garrett a cloak, but the animation would've been too difficult or time-consuming. Also, it would appear that it was decided that Garrett looked "cooler" if you could see what he's wearing under the cloak. As a player, if you're playing in third person, it's easier for you to control his movements if you can see them, AND it's more satisfying to watch. I wonder if they left his arms exposed just to increase his visibility for the player. Continuity be damned!

He posted this thread originally in General Gaming and it was moved here.

Sluggs on 1/6/2006 at 23:26
Of course Garrett has a Cloak, it's just that it's in the wash!

HA HA HA HA HAAAAAAA!!:laff:

Oh and, Sluggs, I know what you mean... It should be obvious!
The first
Thief games had more rain, snow, refrigeration, and swimming... Garrett was cold and wet! The cloak is probably wool and keeps him warm. Now that he can't swim anymore without dying instantly, he can leave it at home.
