few weeks ago, a friend of mine wanted to borrow dx. the problem was: his ati graphics card. i knew he needed this direct 3d patch, so i looked for it on cds of a computer mag i read. i found a zip file that pretends to be what i was searching for, but it didn't contain anything but a unreal (resp dx) engine sys file. my friend copied it to the dx system folder -> crash. he had to reinstall windows.
??? is my patch corrupted?

I'm not sure if it is or not, but you need to get the official single player patch to correc the D3D issue. If you want to get the multiplayer and single player patches, then you can do that as well.
So, where do you get the patches? Easy. Click on the link below.

The D3D "patch" (d3d.dll) is the video driver for the game. And actually, it's nothing more then the d3d.dll from Unreal Tournament v4.20. I don't know why it crashed, but it shouldn't have. If your friend wants to use OpenGL, you'll have to get the real patch from where BDB told you. Although, if you get PC Gamer, it's on the disc in the July '01 issue.
