The best costume of the night (trick-or-treater-wise) was a ~3 year old in an absolutely adorable little pilot outfit with the little jacket, scarf, cap & goggles... He was so shy but dashing at the same time. Sooo cute.
The worst was a very pale ~13 year old wearing only flipflops and speedos (a thong) and his friend just wearing a gray t-shirt & jeans. :erg:

We had a few people age 5 and under in costume. We had a lot of people age 10 and over not in costume.
And that's just counting who came to the door; I watched a bunch of people just outright walk past.

GIVE ME A STORY! Or a pic. Anything in the spirit of Halloween. I promise not to point out how it is patently false without a firm grounding in SCIENCE.
I did.

Passing out candy last night, a little girl comes up to the door, she was about 8 years old. She looks at me with these big eyes, looking all around, and she says to me. "Is this a haunted house?" I feel a smile cross my face. "Oh no honey, this is just decorated for halloween!" I told her. You've got spiders, and all this stuff, its scary!! She said. I told her thank you, my work here is done. That made my night.:cheeky: Years of practice, tweaking the decor, the use of red flood lights, its paid off.
What I want to know is this, "What scares you?" I love going to the haunted houses, been doing that for years, but, the in your face with the crap doesn't scare me in the least. Its mainly what you cannot see, the darkness, a cold breeze, a dimly lit room, with a WTF is over there. Being the last one in line at a haunted house, going through the woods outside, and hearing something behind you, my pace suddenly quickens. :P What gets you?

If I could import one American holiday to Holland, it would be Halloween. There's hardly anything to do here for Halloween. I did watch a horror movie on Halloween night though, Mother's Day (the remake, not the Troma original).

..... What gets you?
Being alone in total, absolute darkness.
And those big, fat, hairy centipedes that hang out in Midwest cellars and are so large they actually make a 'plop' sound when they hit the floor after you empty half a can of Raid on them.
Spiders, mice, rats, snakes ..... none of those creepy crawlies bother me in the least. But let me see one of those NASTY centipedes crawling up the wall and the hair on the back of my neck stands up.
