Man, if someone had the balls and balance to dance out in the hurricane, they'd be an internet celebrity for a whole week!
It's a category 1 hurricane, they'll be fine. (

I love a good stormBig snowstorms are sometimes cool and make for good stories. Hurricanes and ice storms, not so much.

Stay safe, manos. Ruggie & fett are around there... Who else we got east coast?
catbarf is in Rochester, NY (my hometown :)) which is right on the forecast path, though it will surely be a tropical storm by then. Jason Moyer is near Pittsburg, which is on the edge of the forecast path and will at least see power outages and flooding. Phatose already spoke up. Even gunsmoke is going to see some effects from the storm in Cleveland. We have some members from NC, but I think they are safe this time. And I know from last years Hurricane Irene thread that there are others in the Northeast, but I just can't remember who at the moment. Stay safe, all.

Would be a funny jackass stunt. Most people couldn't stand in 75-90 mph (Cat 1) winds without something to hold onto.

We don't get Hurricanes up here. Or earthquakes, or tidal waves, or any of that shit. There is no hurricane safety section in the PA building code. Most we get is snow - so while all our roofing is sturdy as a motherfucker, walls ain't.
Windy as hell here, but we've still got power, and to my knowledge no giant cranes have fell off skyscrapers yet. But the night is young.

I live on the northern edge of Allegheny County, and so far we haven't gotten much, nor is the forecast really calling for anything. I wouldn't be surprised if the power goes out for awhile (that happens everytime someone sneezes) but my main worry is flooding since our house ended up having a few feet of water on the first floor after Hurricane Ivan. The forecast says we've had about an inch of rain with another inch or two on the way tomorrow so it looks good, but christ I'm going to be pissed if I don't have power tomorrow.

I live maybe 50-100 miles west of where the western section of this storm is. It has gotten frigid. I'd say unseasonably so but it's supposed to be this cold, it just usually isn't.

It's weird to see the words "Rochester" and "tropical" in the same sentence, especially when it's almost November.
I lived in NYC for like 6 years, I mean I went to NYU and worked there some, so there's a bit of New York in me too.

Rolled over my house in central DE but I'm lucky that NJ takes the brunt as it comes off the ocean. We still have another 12-16 hours of worry but so far power is still up. (summer thunder storms yield thicker cloud cover that kills sat TV service.)
I've got a ton of firewood so if power goes out I'll still be toasty warm and my propane bottles will still give me working stove and water heater. I'm worried about a HUGE 100+ year old tree in my back yard but the wind is blowing south so if it should fall it shouldn't hit the house but it would crush my shed.
Oh well. Hope things ware going well in your neck of the woods.

Hey! Rochester's my hometown too and am living there right now. It's pretty windy and rainy right now and the house is leaking but that's about it. Still pretty exciting, anyway!

I don't think it's supposed to be this cold in October, man. October is about chilly nights in the 50's, not this near freezing BS we're experiencing now. This is dead of winter weather.
