Coming soon, Indiana Jones and the Lost Pages of Emil's Journal!
"The Nazis have found the Alarus extension!"
"Emil's Journal speaks of the bow upgrade leveling mountains and laying waste to entire regions!"

Selfish to ask someone to share what they have with everyone else? Not even the real thing, just a digital copy? That hardly benefits me alone. Did we watch the same Sesame Street growing up? :)
Selfish to ask
the way you did.
Not knowing anything about the reasons the guy had but demanding in some quite *eloquent* way, if I'm to say it politely.
I think, they tought you that on a different street than the Sesame.
Frankly, we could eventually stop hiding behind that wonderful altruistic "greater good of the community"-stuff.
We want the files because we all are nosy and interested ourselves - and we want people to make good FM-stuff out of them, so we can finally have that for ourselves, too.
If it happens that what we want is what most others want, too, we claim it is not selfish for it is for "the community" - but we mean us ourselves and just exploit that imaginary "right" to get what we want. And most of us do not care what those who "are meant to provide us with the stuff" want or do not want.
That's why I think, most of the posts here are what you blame qckbeam's to be.
*shrugs*

Thanks guys. I do understand the frustration; I'd be frustrated too. Four years is a long time to wait. Sorry for the anger yesterday.
I'll begin scanning the final pages on Thursday morning. I'll try to have it all done by Thursday afternoon, but there are phone numbers and other little details dropped in with the notes. I'll have it by Friday afternoon at the latest.
I just had a long look at the journal, and I didn't see much more information about Thief 2: Gold. There are a few pages devoted to Thief 3 design/story which might interest you, and there are some technical details regarding level design in UnrealEd.
There are ~90 pages left. That sounds like a lot, but the majority of them are filled with notes Emil took during employee interviews. I don't want to disappoint anyone; what's here is interesting, but I don't think the remaining pages will shed anymore light on Thief 2: Gold. Still, as a piece of history, it's very cool.

Sounds very interesting indeed.
It's possible that some of the levels cut from Thief 3 might have been mildly related to Thief 2 Gold in some way too. Perhaps some lost T3 missions might be possible.

Didn't report Krypt that they had levels three times bigger than the shipped ones without vertex pool issues? That always made me think that there are still some lost unr files somewhere.

I don't think it was three times, they just had 'joined' versions of the levels that shipped split in two. The original static meshes were supposed to have been much more detailed, and the textures higher res. Everything was shrunk down to fit into xbox memory.

Well alright! As far as I'm concerned, qckbeam is the hero of the thread.
:)
Thank you for recognising the importance of not only a classic groundbreaking series, but also its most dedicated fans. I just need to reiterate what Horizon said that this community hath been keeping Thief alive. Thank you for being a part of it.

Thanks Qckbeam, you're a champ!
I can't translate the remaining pages for the next 3 weeks because I'm on teacher's prac, but I should be able to do it soon after.
Thanks again, mate.

Just a quick update:
I've scanned the remaining pages. There were 86 overall. I'm just cropping them, cleaning them up, and removing those bits of personal information. It's coming soon!
