Even if he could send a meek PM and confess. It's seemed rather apparent that nobody here knows who he is or where he lives, so he can't be afraid of a blackjack to the skull.

FYI to all, I emailed Emil to see if he can provide any info on the guy. A long shot, but you never know. We know Qckbeam is a guy named (who also uses the nick Qckles), but aside from that, any connections I tried to make (via some google searches) have fallen through so far (still waiting on a few).

I'd be very grateful if someone could do something, as I'm very eager to translate parts 2 and 3, like I translated part 1.
Here's hoping...

Sure, there's a possibility, but I'm more thinking along the lines of this taffer having real life problems again as he supposedly had in the beginning, and how to get around those rather than shooting in the dark with conspiracy theories. Emil said he sent it to him, so I believe that. One sure way would be to contact Emil, give him a link to the PDF, and ask him if that's his journal :p My thought on qckbeam potentially defrauding us is '
innocent until proven guilty' and all that old-fashioned nonsense ;) I guess no one here knows him/her personally, so the next step would be to use the e-mail address provided. I'm sure others have already tried, but there's nothing wrong with a few more, like me, e-mailing to see what's what, hoping it's received and replied to.
deadman.
This is the post I agree with the most, for the highlighted reason.
Maybe his house caught fire and burned it, or maybe
he spill his drink on it.

True, but then why in the last 3 years couldn't he have bothered to at least drop in here to let us all know what happened? That's just common courtesy. And it's not like he didn't know there were a lot of people here very interested in seeing the rest of the journal - this thread itself is evidence to that.

Quickbeam is the name of an ent in The Lord of the Rings if I'm not mistaken. So, how many people could possibly come to the idea of writing it as "Qckbeam"?
Renault on 21/4/2008 at 14:01
I heard back from Emil this morning, he has no clue who the guy is, said he lost that contact info a long time ago. I wasn't real optimistic the he had it, but I was hopeful.
I agree with Yandros - it was very obvious that there was a lot of interest in the journal - just the amount of entries that were submitted in the raffle, and the way everyone was begging him to finish the scanning, he knew how important it was to the community. Hell, just look at the topic of this thread - he's apologizing because he knows everyone is desperately looking for the scans.
If he sold the thing, or ebayed it, he should have been upfront and honest about it. Judging by his activity on some other boards, he's been around as recently as February of this year, so there's no reason he couldn't have stopped by and give us an update by now.
Barring Qckbeam suddenly posting out of the blue, I'd say case closed on this one.

Maybe people could try to take him for his words that "These past few months have just been some of the worst of my life, and have made it incredibly difficult to do much of anything", since he did apologize and bothered to post a part of it.
Maybe he was diagnosed with cancer and had to go through chemo, maybe that didn't work as hoped, it could be a million really bad and personal things. I really hope it isn't something like that, but I have a bad feeling about it, and jumping at that guy's throat just seems wrong.

What a fuss. If he sold it or not was and is his buisness.
If you win something a lot of people would like to have you are not obligated to keep it just because anybody else would have kept it. He already shared quite a part of it.
He doesn't owe me anything, least of all appologies for not having kept a thing he might be through with. People move on with their lives and once important things sometimes get less important in relation to others.
And even if he still owns it, which I'm quite sure of, right now, he's gone. If he returns, fine. If not... *shrugs*

He's gone from here...but he's plenty active on other boards. I think he just didn't give a flying shit. The journal should have been given to the mods of TTLG, at least then everyone would have gotten a copy. It was just dropped into the hands of someone who didn't value it at all.
