Hey guys, i'm replaying Deus EX for the third time, and i'm having a major problem in Hong Kong.
I just got the Dragon Tooth at Maggie's place (wasted her waitress and some MJ12's), and now Tracer Tong is supposed to contact me, but he doesn't! I don't understand why, since i've already done everything there is to be done, talked to everybody, but it didn't trigger Tong's dialogue.
These are the primary objectives i have to complete:
- Retrieve the Dragon' Tooth sword and await further instructions from Tracer Tong.
- Find and examine the Dragon's Tooth sword as proof regarding wheter or not Maggie Chow is telling the truth.
- Find Tracer Tong in Hong Kong.
- Plus 2 more completed objectives (Deactivatihg the weapon's lock on Jock's heli, and Looking for clues on the compound Paul used to visit.
- I also got a Primary Objective that has already been completed, but hasn't disappeared from the list (must be some bug): Send the NSF distress signal from the satellite transmitter on the roof of NSFHQ.
To make matter worse i've only been using the quick save, so i don't have a previous save to resort to. Last save is at UNATCO at the first mission. :(
Is there any way i can trigger Tong's dialogue to continue the game? I've checked the cheats page and found nothing that could help me.
This is my 3rd go through the game, and it's the one i'm having most fun (playing sneaky, non-lethal, and on a new machine), i'd hate to stop now!
Thanks in advance!

Well, after getting the sword I went to the Lucky Money to talk with one of the triad leaders. If that doesn't work you may need to cheat a little to move the game ahead like entering the luminous path compound or VersaLife.
You may have a corrupted game save.
Try to make some regular saves each time you play the game in case of corruption, its a lot easier than playing the game from start again. :)
Check my site below for info. It covers some of the more obscure areas of Deus Ex which you may have missed.

You're running the old beta MP patch, aren't ya? Admit it. :)
If this is still happening after you've downloaded the new patch, there might be pieces of the old patch left over... you'll have to reinstall from scratch and go straight to the new patch. Or you can finish your game first... the objectives will stay and you won't get the skill points/infolink messages, but you should be able to continue on to the end.

I think the most likely possibility is what Absynthe said - the save game corruption thing. Even using the new patches people have reported this sort of problem. The NSF signal is not a problem because as long as you know what you are doing you can still continue the game. However, you can't continue if you don't complete the Dragon's Tooth objective. Save game corruption likelihood is apparently increased by saving over the same slot all the time (as you do when you quicksave). I always delete my old saves and save in a new slot when playing games.

I'm not sure what you mean. What i did was, install Deus Ex fresh from the CD, and the patch up using a MP patch. Don't know if it's beta, but i think it's the last one available.
The file's name is: deusexmppatch1104fm.exe
It's size is: 35,9 Mb
Is there a more recent patch?

Well, the problem is, i can't finish the game.
After reading Absythe's datavault, the next objective that should pop up (but doesn't) is to talk to Max Chen and show him the sword. Since this objective hasn't been trigeered, when i go to Max Chen, he keeps calling me arrogant, and "gwailo"... So i can't continue playing.

Didn't know about that :(
Guess it's too late now.

There´s a transcript of Maggie´s interrogation of the former Red Arrow leader (forgot his name) right by the sword. I doubt that´s it, but did you read that?

Yup, currently it's at 1.112. You've got about the worst Deus Ex version in existence, sorry. :(

Damn! :(
I'll download the most recent patch and try again. Dunno if it will make a difference though.

Get the latest single player patch if you have no interest in multiplayer. People have reported similar problems with the latest multi patch (uncompleted goals etc.).
Absynthe on 31/5/2001 at 00:42
I seem to remember there were one or two goals that are notorious for not showing up completed even when they are. It doesn't affect the gameplay in any way.
The "Send a signal to the NSF" goal is one I've heard alot. If you have this in your goal list, don't worry it doesn't prevent you from finishing the game.
