Perhaps - but he's not wrong about some of them being horribly ugly.

Have you seen any of the (http://twitz.brainthink.com/assets/images/EVE_Shipchart_Apocrypha_Edition.jpg) ship size charts? You don't quite get the same sense of scale in the game but it's good to see a decent variation between craft.

I'd almost say props to the EVE folks for jamming that much asymmetry in, really...coz it's fucking space. As long as you can propel yourself in the direction you want to go, you can look like anything you want, or indeed just ditch aesthetics and go for the most practical design (which is presumably just 'frame with shite bolted on wherever it fits'). 'Shapes unable to withstand much torque' are probably not a great idea, though..so the preponderance of long skinny ships is a bit jarring.

Not that I know anything about the EVE universe, mind you, but I'm assuming some sort of artifical gravity system exists? Most of the big ships seem to have a dorsal/ventral look suggesting the ship has a definite 'down', whereas the smaller ships look a bit more jet-fightery.

Out of curiosity, how much do you even SEE of your own (or anyone elses) ship in EVE, anyway?

Actual in-game footage mostly looks like 'a fuckton of icons battling another fuckton of icons'.

You see it mostly when travelling which is pretty boring so doesn't make for good footage videos. Things may have changed since I played it last but in battles you tend to get an overview once you're in position and work from the targetting computer and looking at your ship has very little use.
