What did you change in the configuration file? See, the missions will be listed by their names, and they'll have a bunch of values written like this under them:
[Mission name]
type=1
date=23012
lang=1
etc.
For Thief 1 or Thief: Gold missions getting listed as Thief 2 ones, you need to change the type value from 2 to 1 manually. If after doing that the mission still doesn't update, uninstall and reinstall Thief, and then Darkloader.
Oh, and I don't think Thief has "program after program", you just have two patching tools for two games, and a fan mission loader for both games. There's a third game which has a different patching program, and it can run another fan mission loader but it can run FMSel too, and apparently FMSel for Thief 3 is more optimized.

cam_mod.ini is NOT on the any of the Thief CDs. It's installed as part of the New Dark patch.
If you've installed Tfix and/or Tafferpatcher, those programs install the cam_mod.ini file into your Thief folder.
Every time. It's automatic.
There's no way that on your individual computer, and your computer only, it suddenly decided NOT to install that file.
It's there.
Go find it.
Rearrange or sort your files in your Thief directory if you have to, but it's in there. There's no way it can't be.
No one else is having these kind of problems. I think you're making this out to be harder than it is.

It shows how to manually install New Dark, and you can even see the cam_mod.ini files in this guy's Thief folders. There's a good chance it will confuse the hell out of you, but it's the only visual guide I could find.

just to confirm what Brethren said - the patchers install all required NewDark files, cam_mod.ini included. if some files are getting blocked/deleted on your system, then you might have an (anti)virus problem or something similar.
the whole point of an universal patcher is that it fixes the game up so it would NOT require any manual intervention. here is a screenshot of a steam version of a TG root folder right after applying TFix 1.21:

i figured out how to make it work
i opened thief 1 folder and found the fmsell clickable thing that opens it then i had to scan the fm in the folder then then play it,worked for the new t1 mission then i will try the thief gold ones once i reinstall that game
maybe i am related to benny?

the problem is on your end, as under normal circumstances, the patchers will install everything properly. nobody can address this but you, as the problem is on your computer - find the reason why the patching process is failing, and your problem will be solved. disabling your antivirus before you start patching would be a good start.
how about you post a screenshot of yout TG folder?

What he has done is activated FMSel. However, when he attempts to run an FM through DarkLoader, FMSel will launch. Strange, but that's been my experience.
