What if instead of briefings, the player had to investigate the property/place by himself? And collect some information by eavesdroping and stealing maps and interogation of servants and sharing information with his fencies? All that in the game playtime. No interuptions by briefings. How about that?
That's
kinda similar to "Casing the Joint" in T2, where you had to get in the mansion, find a few things, and your map only included information from where you reconnoitered in the house. Beautiful level. However, I did not like playing the level again in the next mission, even though the 3rd floor was new. I thought, "I gotta do this again?"
The briefings were beautiful works of art and story - a
must for the Thief games.

Isn't there a forum rule against false quoting someone? If not, there ought to be.

Sorry, just kidding. Don't take it seriously. :)

Yeah, it was annoying to play the same level again. But I explored the 3rd floor in Casing the Joint. There were nothing to steal unfortunately, but I covered 100% of the level on my first go.

I just hope they aren't going to be 100 % static. AFAIK, at least the TDP and TG briefings sometimes used short simple animated sequences running in front of an otherwise static background.

Notice the slightly animated part with the map of Cragscleft mines and prison.
Or maybe you remember the stylized spider silhouettes running across the map in this briefing for Song of the Caverns.
That's what I meant.

WARNING: Due to circumstances that are really not important enough to discuss, the site that is currently hosting the videos may shut down.
Therefore if you want to have access to them in the future, either download them or, if someone has the space, DL them and have them available through your own site.
They are downloadable at present. So be on notice that the links may vanish at any moment, and if you want them now is the time.
I regret the circumstances, but manure happens. :erg:
You can go to the DL here: (

I rebuilt the site, so the Videos should DL for you. If not let me know (PM or public).
Be sure to use the Video button UNDER the photo. The top right is a player, the very top a catalog of the entire EZ site and members.

Am enjoying them greatly at the moment - thanks tBm. It's a while since I've seen them and I've no idea what I've done with the TMA ones.

I also agree that they should return the briefings to the Ye Olde style, Hand-drawn frames, which zoom in and out etc. I think they should also have the occasional cutscene. They should also do those extracts from scrolls and stuff, in front of that wall of fire thing, at the start of the briefings... :thumb:

I think that now they can do them coloured.
That would add some character to them and distinguish t4 from t1+2
