Proper sepia for a noir-influenced title would be fine. Muted colours at least. A smaller palette bordering on monochromatic. It distinguishes briefings from cutscenes.

If Thief2X could have classic Thief-style briefings, there is no good reason why a professionally-made game (no offense at all meant to the Dark Engineering Guild--they're amazing) couldn't have the same. Also, I want all cutscenes to be animated, and not 3D. Oh, and assuming Garrett is in Thiaf, quit making him look like a teenager, like they did in TDS's final cutscene.
Really, it's not that difficult to make an "authentic" Thief cutscene. A few in-game screenshots with a grain and color filter, a few panning shots of the map, and a handful of monochrome digital paintings. It shouldn't take talented professionals more than maybe 10-20 work hours to make each one (that's assuming there's no full animation, which would of course take longer).

I'm too at your side :thumb:, the old bireffings with the speaking Garrett are the best and make the level more interesting than the 3D Ones

I'm not very hung up on that. I wouldn't mind something new, as long as it looks good. The main problem with the cutscenes and the briefings in TDS was that they just looked like crap; inconsistent and ugly.
Besides, with the wrong people on the wheel, even the old-style briefings could be crap and only exude a nostalgic aroma- at best.
Of course, if they do go that route and they can do it properly, I will certainly not have any complaints.

This.
It's like Rustmonkey had a problem deciding on a style for the animated cutscenes. It ranged between dark and light, realistic and cartoony, well animated and crap. Which is odd, considering the consistant quality through Thief 1 and 2. Then Ion Storm decided to toss in a bunch of terrible engine-powered scenes. Speaking of Rustmonkey, is the company even open anymore?

Rustmokey died a slow death from 2004 to early 2005. Dan Thron works best given time fully dedicated to the job, not running a company and rounding up clientele to spread his time thin.

Sad, since his work for the first two games was perfect. I've wondered how they'll do the briefings in the new game. But thinking about this now really makes me wonder how they'll do the story videos.
