I want the most out of my to-be 2012 Ford Focus (SEL vs Titanium?)? - by lizardfuel55

I'll be getting my first car very soon. My budget is roughly 15,000 to 18,000$ I considered the 2012 Honda Civic LX and test drove it -- nice car, but I feel like Honda played it safe with only giving more MPG and that's it. Then I looked at the Ford Focus and went on the website and I'm floored!
I want to remember my first car for power and personality and the Ford Focus seems to match that description (yet to test drive it). My question is :
I definitely want the automatic parallel parking assist , bluetooth, and ambient lighting. Don't care for nav.
Can I get all these features in just a 2012 Ford Focus SEL? (or do I need to buy the parking package and myTouch package)?

Can I get all these features in a 2012 Ford Focus Titanium? (or do I need to buy the parking package and myTouch package)?
So then is it cheaper to buy the 2012 Ford Focus SEL ( + package rates ) or the 2012 Ford Focus Titanium (don't know if I may have to buy seperate packages)?
I want the most out of my money but I want to be within 17,000 to 19,000$ . I know one way I can save money is by getting the sedan version and not the hatchback (would you recommend this ? )
Thanks!

parallel parking assist
Want to save money? Learn to parallel park. It's a Focus, not a Panzer Tank. It's not difficult with a bit of practice, either.
Hatchbacks are way more practical, you won't get an old washing machine (or your choice of selected bulky old tat) in the sedan.

Seconding the "learn to drive" sentiment. People need too much help and gizmos these days. The only thing I'd really like in my car, that I don't have, is one of those meters that tells you how many miles you have left on your tank and what your MPG is.

If you've still got the RX-8, you probably don't want 22mpg flashing in your face all day anyway :)

Last December I bought a 2010 Kia Forte (brand new: got a GREAT deal & only spent a tad over $15k), which comes with the Bluetooth feature. At first this was a fun novelty; but it hasn't worked properly since 2 months after I got the car. It's a feature still worth having (when it works) since it seems the law is starting to crack down on drivers talking on their cells while driving.
As for the other gizmos; imo that's just more stuff that'll break or go wrong.

Yeah, car gizmos probably don't break down that much more frequently than, say, a power supply or RAM in a computer. But when they do, they're somewhere in your car hidden behind plastic fascia or bolted behind an entire engine, and impossible to switch out. And, like a power supply or RAM in a computer, they'll break down eventually anyway.
As for the cell phone crackdown, around here, you'll get a pricy ticket for simply holding a phone in your hand while driving, even if it's off.

How about the most out of your dignity?
aaaaaha[trailing off.......] ... just kidding.
But if I were getting a lowend car with soul I'd go for the Mazda3 myself. To each their own; at least you're not going with a Honda or Kia. (FTR I've become such a creature of public transportation I've almost lost touch with what to look for in buying a car, so obviously don't take anything I say seriously.)
