Maybe this is already well-known amongst Mac users, but the lead dev for I-War 2 mod "Torn Stars" just posted about a way to run the game under OSX using a wrapper called Cider that comes with the Mac version of X3:

A quick search shows that Cider is made by (
http://www.transgaming.com/) Transgaming and used in a lot of their game ports. I didn't see any obvious indication that you could purchase it as a stand-alone product, but one suspects that buying any of their game ports would give you the ability to try this out. More recent games may get you a more advanced version of Cider, at a guess (but they might also do online updates for the wrapper).
