If today was opposites day, I would agree whole-heartedly. It's not though. It's not even a bank holiday. Family guy is to humour what a wet sack of rotten rats is to cuisine.

What is it about Family Guy that people dislike? I like black humor, I like societal and cultural lampooning, I like satire. And there is a zaniness to it that's just so.

SubjEff - as Angle said, most people just find the humor in FG 'trite' rather than clever. Like, it tries to laugh at things by pointing them out ("look, a conservative being conservative haha!") rather than thinking up an actual proper joke. Or it just overdoes some stupid jokes like the chicken fight that goes on forever (and then repeats like 2-3 times in later epsiodes IIRC), or a 1 minute long fart just filling airtime.
Personally, I enjoy FG but in small amounts, if I watch too much I start to notice those issues pointed above. And could really do entirely without the pointless long fillers like the chicken/farts etc.

Family Guy relies on misogyny, rape jokes (targeted at Meg especially), toilet humor that goes way beyond even my grade school standards, nonsensical non-sequiturs and an overreliance on cutaway gags, and it beats you over the head with overt political messages (or puffed up moralizing about how atheists are God's Chosen) without any humor attached to them or any sense of irony given its very un-PC humor. It has no qualms in making a joke about Sarah Palin at the expense of mentally disabled people.
It all reads as woefully schizophrenic -- and it's too relentlessly unfunny and lacking in self-awareness to be satire. Any claims of satire usually ring as insincere and back-pedalery as (
http://www.shortpacked.com/comics/2012-10-03-murdered.png) trolls on the internet who claim they were performing a "social experiment."
It's really telling when the staffs of The Simpsons, King of the Hill and South Park (
http://reason.com/archives/2006/12/05/south-park-libertarians/2) all collectively hate Family Guy as a show.
Also, I'm pretty sure Seth MacFarlane is a zoophile.
