This may just be a shot in the dark, but I'm guessing the low humour in Family Guy is supposed to be satirical. Stereotypes are funny precisely because of how stupid they are. making fun of those stereotypes isn't agreeing with them.
Sometimes he tries to pass it off as satirical.
At other times (most notably in TED) he shows himself for what he really is.

Family Guy relies on misogyny, rape jokes (targeted at Meg especially), toilet humor that goes way beyond even my grade school standards, nonsensical non-sequiturs and an overreliance on cutaway gags, and it beats you over the head with overt political messages (or puffed up moralizing about how atheists are God's Chosen) without any humor attached to them o
Dethtoll just said something....true.
Apparently I'm not the only one who finds him stupid and offense.

They need to take a hint from South Park, which is usually capable of delivering a thoughtful sentiment in a creative way. For example, go on the official site and watch the episode about the Iraq War debate......they do a rather creative parody that illustrates to anyone familiar with American history how retarded the arguments on both sides were.

I've never watched Family Guy. Long ago I tried, but can't get over how annoying the characters look.

Well that's a bit of an overstatement. I love Family Guy but even I liked it when South Park "ripped" on it.
edit: I mean come on how could anyone not love this?

It's not an overstatement. Read the link I provided.

Oh Jesus. How can anyone take a piece seriously when the author honestly thinks that the Zero Dark Thirty joke was sexist?!
Family Guy is offensive? But South Park isn't? Ooooookay.

Family Guy being racist, sexist, homophobic, and being all out crass is kind of it's shtick. It's not trying to be hateful so much as it wants to be rude for the sake of being rude.
There's a huge difference between saying something to get a rise out of people and saying it because you mean it.
That said, Family Guy has been felt old and tired for YEARS now.

Yeah after season 9 it kinda started going downhill, like they ran out of ideas, but before that it was genius. If you watch only 1 episode, make it this one:

Pow! right in the kisser. That one should go down in TV history

I've preferred American Dad for a while now. Less cut-away humour and fewer US culture references. I think the primary reason that adult cartoons get away with so much is because the idea that a fundamentally silly animated group of characters who are consistently portrayed as ludicrous in some sense, have any ability to promote the viewpoints they are lampooning, is asinine. It's like people who complained about Brass Eye making fun of paedophilia. Satire is when you use humour to undermine certain viewpoints.

I just read the part where they talked about everyone digging the Family Guy rip. I'm not about to read that whole interview. If it is stated at some other point in it that the showrunners for Simpsons and King Of The Hill
hate Family Guy, rather than simply digging that SP ripped on it, would you be so kind as to point it out? If not, yeah it's an overstatement. I'm not surprised that you would interpret it that way, but you need to remember that not everyone has the same capacity for hate that you have.
