I'm amazed that people are holding a cartoon up to some kind of commentating standards.
You usually don't say things that are this incredibly stupid. Stop.
june gloom on 9/9/2013 at 19:15
Gotta agree. What exactly precludes animation from being good political commentary?
SubJeff on 9/9/2013 at 20:24
I agree with you, ZB and dethtoll, animation can be great for commentary of all types, and all of the shows mentioned do it to a greater or lesser extent in different areas.
So some over-sensitive journalist finds MacFarlane's jokes offensive. So what? That Daniel Day-Lewis joke re: Don Cheadle - taking the mick out of DDL, nothing racist about it! Again with the Zero Dark Thirty joke! It's not sexist ffs, it's the exact opposite! The jokes about Jews in Hollywood? THE SAME THING.
You've got to be dumb
and have a paper thin skin to find those jokes offensive.
What do you call a Middle Eastern man flying an airplane over New York?
A pilot you racist.Oh God. I must be a racist.

You don't have a clue, do you?
SubJeff on 9/9/2013 at 23:16
No u.
What is this? Idiotville? Come on, explain how that article is right. You can't. This is your thing - you bang on about something being something it isn't because in your mind you've decided it is. But when presented with any kind of explanation to the contrary you are unable to deconstruct the issues and give any explanation or counter save "you're wrong", "you haven't a clue" and so on.
The final stage is "stop hounding me" when backed into a corner.
A lot of posters have realised this and so just don't bother. I persist because a. I'm anal like that and b. I think if you were able to admit you are wrong, just once, or at least have a reasonable discussion about things it might do you a world of good.
Take those three examples in my last post. Is it even possible for you to just reasonably, and with your usual dethtollness, explain how I'm wrong (in any of those cases) and how they are actually offensive? It isn't because, well, you. Get help.
june gloom on 9/9/2013 at 23:42
You're asking me to provide proof that people were offended by offensive jokes. What, you want a fucking chart? Just because you don't find them offensive DOES NOT MEAN THEY ARE NOT OFFENSIVE. Especially when you personally don't find them offensive, as you have a tendency to project your values and sense of humor onto everyone else.
We're talking about a guy who joked that Zero Dark Thirty was about women never being able to let anything go. BAM, sexism -- and yes, it is sexist whether you think it is or not because it's making a blanket assumption about women. He made a joking reference to blackface with his Flight sockpuppet parody and pretended to mix up Denzel Washington and Eddie Murphy (in other words implying that all blacks look the same to him.) BAM, racism. He concluded his juvenile song and dance routine about actresses baring their chests on film by claiming he wasn't a member of the gay men's chorus he just sang with -- BAM, homophobia, if a bit weak.
I repeatedly ask you to stop hounding me because what you do is harassment -- you have a Jashin-level skill in debate, which kills any desire to discuss things with you, but you never ever drop the issue. I've had to block you twice because you wouldn't stop PMing me. I'm going to ask you, publicly, to not hit that PM button, because I don't want to hear from you. I'll debate this shit all day long with faetal, Jason, Vivian, Evabot, even DDL -- but not you. I'd make better progress with Zajazd. You're probably not a sociopath but who can fucking tell you egocentric narcissist?
I'm not the only one who thinks you're like a dog with a bone and need to learn when to disengage. When the other person isn't interested in talking to you, STOP HARASSING THEM.
SubJeff on 9/9/2013 at 23:57
Zero Dark Thirty? That wasn't the joke. The joke was him making an offensive joke. That's satirising sexism, not being sexist. Same with the Denzel joke - it's satirising racists.
june gloom on 10/9/2013 at 00:00
That's ridiculous. I can't even construct a counter-argument because you've so completely outstepped the bounds of reality itself. Why does it bother you so much that someone was offended by MacFarlane?
SubJeff on 10/9/2013 at 00:11
It doesn't bother me, it amazes me that people can be so stupid as to think that the Don Cheadle Daniel Day-Lewis joke is racist and not just joking about DDLs extreme method acting.
AFAIK he didn't write those jokes alone anyway.
And there are plenty of opinion pieces that feel exactly the same way as I do - that people like you didn't, and don't, hey it.

...
That's very clearly lampooning a stereotype, not supporting it.
