I mean, do you actually think he can't tell black people apart or that he was actually saying all black people look the same? And this would get by the Academy filters and lead writer?
What was that about reality?

That's very clearly lampooning a stereotype, not supporting it.
Says who?
And no, I don't think Seth actually can't tell blacks apart.
IT DOESN'T MAKE THE JOKE ANY LESS RACIST OR UNFUNNY.It clearly does bother you, Subjeff, otherwise you wouldn't be so adamant about it.

What is this? Idiotville? Come on, explain how that article is right. You can't. This is your thing - you bang on about something being something it isn't because in your mind you've decided it is. ..
A lot of posters have realised this and so just don't bother. I persist because a. I'm anal like that and b. I think if you were able to admit you are wrong, just once, or at least have a reasonable discussion about things it might do you a world of good...
While I've been growing weary of dethtolls bs as well, I agree more with his side in this particular argument.
Not sure about people getting offended by Seth, but the way I understand it, people are just not amused by his trite jokes. Instead of cleverl mockery and satire of an issue (like SouthPark or other cartoons do to some extend), both FG and his oscar speech (which I havent seen so basing on the article) seem to bring up said issue and... point and laugh, without any attempt at "smart" humor. Hence, people are calling his shtick as "just" sexist/pedophiliac/homophobic/pro-democrat etc. as there isn't much more to it.
Personally, I think people are jumping the gun and, while I do get tired of FG's humor if I watch it too much, I wouldnt get offended by it. If anything it's just a (sad and) failed attempt at humor, not so much a deliberate insult.

Nice try, but no. Also that article is hilarious.

There are loads of opinion pieces defending the performance.
Conclusion; you don't get satire.
Yakoob - YMMV with finding him funny. That's fine, humour is, like most things, largely subjective.
But you can't agree that he's racist or homophobic or sexist when he isn't.

I think it's funny that the generation that prides itself on its appreciation of post modernism and the ironic tends to take everything at face value.
...or maybe they do that because they're making an ironic statement about society. Wow, that's so meta.

I've been looking for that picture for ages.

For satire to work it has to be funny. That doesn't mean I don't get satire.
