When I was a kid, this cartoon clip warped my young mind to the point of hatred:

That's right. I really, really hate Yankee Doodle. What the fuck is a "Yankee Doodle" anyway? A Chinese phrase for masturbation?!

So not liking an unfunny show with unfunny misogynist jokes means I'm some sort of tumblr social justice crusader?
Okay, at least you're consistent with getting things backwards.

That is exactly what henke is saying, wtf.

But you're wrong on the misogyny. The jokes are actually anti-misogyny, you just can't see it.
For example, the ZDT joke; we know what it's about, and it's not about a woman not letting things go. Seth knows this, and knows that we know. So him saying that it is about a woman not letting something go is clearly ridiculous, and anyone who says that and tally means it is clearly ridiculous. And that's the point.
But all you see is the surface. Your moral crusade misplaced and misogyny exists less than you think it does.
I bet you think Sex Type Thing is a pro-rape song.

He said that you
don't have to be SJC about disliking FG. And you claimed that somehow meant that disliking FG
makes you SJC. These are opposites. You claimed he wrote the opposite of what he actually wrote.

FG is rarely that subtle though.
For example both SP and Simpsons have addressed the topic of child molestation....the difference is that those two shows used the topic in their show to address society's perception of child abuse, whereas family guy thinks that just making a joke about rapists (or racists, etc) is hilarious. We already know racists and rapists and sexists are horrible people, so I personally don't see why that's funny at all. The humor is too predictable and juvenile to elicit even a chuckle, and Seth McFarlane's self-righteous tone makes it downright irritating to watch.

You just described the same fucking thing ffs. By saying I don't have to be SJC about FG (which I'm not) he's implying that I'm being SJC about FG (which I'm not.)

I enjoy all the shows mentioned, and others, because they make me laugh, for a variety of reasons, some lofty and some base. Some make me think and others allow me to give my brain a rest.
I can understand how certain folks may find certain sorts of humour offensive or simply ineffective. I never got the cultish adoration of all things Seinfeld. But I never told anybody that they were wrong to enjoy it. I just stopped watching it and when people regaled me with details of last night's show, I just nodded and smiled, then slipped away at the first opportunity.
Until any of the shows actually come out promoting victimisation, through criminal or hateful acts, I will assume they are doing what comedy has always done, holding up a variety of fun house mirrors, which I can look into or not, as I choose.
In fact, knowing that someone, somewhere, disapproves of my choices, will likely only increase my enjoyment. So, thank you.

Seems that, for you at least, it's too subtle.
I know a lot of the time it's just being stupid, but the jokes are rarely simply jokes that just happen to be about those particular things.

Can we just end this thread now with Nickers' post?
