Let's talk about LaffyTaffy420 being the best poster in this thread instead.

What has this got to do with anything?
I used to like Stewie a lot more before I realized that he was another character copy-pasted into FG and then passed off as their own unique creation.

How is that relevant to the thread? Does it make him less funny?

I'm not into the thing, I don't come across it, it's not a part of the culture I absorb. This is just like 420 thing; you think that everyone should know wtf you're talking about all the time even if they live in a country where such things aren't common knowledge, even if they just don't come in contact with certain shows or games or whatever you're into.
Funnily enough....you've just described the main reason I dislike the show. I'm not easily amused by random 80's references thrown in just for the sake of it.
As to your sprited defense saying that Seth McFarlane doesn't use racial humor. You contradict Seth himself (emphasis added below)
Quote:
We are presenting the Archie Bunker point of view and making fun of the stereotypes—not making fun of the groups.
But if I'm really being honest, then maybe there's a part of me that's stuck in high school and we're laughing because we're not supposed to. I don't know the psychology. At the core, I know none of us gives a shit... Some people say that stereotypes exist for a reason. I'm in no way qualified to make that determination. But I'm sitting in a room with a writing staff that is in large part Jewish, and those are the guys that are pitching the jokes.
So yes, Seth Green himself admits that the show uses racial humor on some level. That doesn't make the show as a whole "racist", just a fact of it.
Also, enough with the whole "racism" thing, as stated many time's before that's dethtolls argument not my own.
My main personal objection to show is that it's preachy and patronizing to anyone who disagrees with the author's ideas.....though it's probably not something you're capable of picking up on because you share the author's political views.
In fact if you get right down to it the biggest reason I dislike the show is because it treats the audience like they're idiots , whereas every other current animation from Archer to South Park to even fucking Squidbillies generally give some credit to the audience's inteligence.

That's it then.
Goodnight.

As stated before, the reason Family Guy treats its audience like idiots is because most of its audience are idiots. (not counting henke or whatever -- I think you're a good dude henke but there's no accounting for taste ;) )

Either that or it bases its humour on not needing intellect to deal with it. One of the great things about being clever is that you can like more stuff, not just a higher calibre of stuff. Like I'm going to sit and analyse whether or not I should be finding something funny or not. Either it tickles me, or it doesn't. Any time I feel like my brain needs something to chew on, I'll do something else.

http://loveforlife.com.au/files/strawman2.jpgYou're completely tone deaf. I've told you repeatedly how racist jokes doesn't necessarily make the show as a whole racist, yet you keep attacking a point I'm not even trying to defend. What you've done is the equivalent of scoring a goal in European football when the other team isn't on the field.
Congrats

http://netanimations.net/Creepy-looking-guy-clapping-in-theater.gifI stand by my statement that the show relies (as of more recent seasons) on some pretty reprehensible things for a lot of it's humor.
edit: If in case you continue in this argument, I may need to remind you not even a post later that Seth McFarlane himself admits that the humor on some level does involve laughing at stereotypes. While I don't judge the show negatively for that aspect in and of itself you're arguing a point that is both demonstrably false and disproven by statements from the show's on creator.

That's a more apt description of Beavis and Butthead, a show that pulls of the whole "so stupid it's funny" angle somewhat better. The description of Family Guy as "not needing intellect" as opposed to treating the audience like idiots is disproven by numerous examples where the show beats you over the head with a one-sided liberal message without any logical argument to back it up. In every instance the show makes very clear that you are supposed to believe what the writers do and if you don't, then you're clearly an idiot.
I miss the early episodes of the series, where the moral at the end was usually one with fairly universal appeal. Nowadays any time I try to watch I just end up thinking "Fine, I GET IT, Republicans are retarded" and end up changing the channel looking for an actual chuckle.
The thing that the writers aren't quite smart enough to grasp is that their ridiculously lopsided portrayals of people they disagree with tends to make them look worse than the people they're ripping on.
