I'm so meta, even this acronym.

Doesn't matter how much you watch or have watched. Can't you see that your opinion is pretty skewed? No, no you can't. lol. It's frikking funny though, no doubt.
Of course it matters. I've watched great fucking
mountains of television. I watched Family Guy when it was
new. I could quote you most of the first nine years of the Simpsons. I spent a lot of time in the last decade watching television. You know what? I've been cutting down on the shows I watch because I DON'T LIKE TELEVISION ANYMORE. My habits have changed. My preferences have changed. I don't have the patience for television anymore.
And that doesn't make my views on television any less valid, so please, please, please, just do shut up. Look how fucking smug you are, you impossible creature. You're practically strutting in your own self-superiority. Go ahead and claim victory and high five yourself in the mirror while jerking off if that pleases you, but you're still an asshole.

Speaking of big bang theory, I think one of the commenters on youtube summed it up well:
"The official show for pseudo intellectual hipsters who think that high school grade science is the nerdiest thing to understand."

I can't stand that program. I saw a small bit of it and hated it intensely. Then I listened to a friend who said I should give it a chance, so I watched a whole episode. I still consider that friend to owe me something with equivalent value to 20 minutes of my life.

Lucky you. I categorically hate its smug shallowness and insufferable people being awful to each other, and yet every time I spend a night at a friend's place, one who knows my views that most of the bilge on TV that he happens to love is bilge, he marathons the shit out of BBT, Modern Family and Mike & Molly, while I try not to drool on the pillows as I fall asleep or into a catatonic stupor.
Do people find most sitcoms funny any more? What the everloving fuck happened to comedies with actual effort put into the writing and characters, like MASH and Cheers and Frasier?
faetal on 18/9/2013 at 11:57
They've been replaced with bullshit using exaggerated stereotypes. "Oh I get it, he's the bitchy gay guy", "Oh I get it, she's the angry diminutive girl who everyone is scared of" "Oh I get it, he's really macho about everything, but scared of heights" "Oh I get it, he's the nerd who's super clever and never gets when girls are hitting on him because he's too into physics" - ad nauseum.
[EDIT] Oh, and you need to stop visiting that friend.
SubJeff on 18/9/2013 at 12:06
You guys need to chill out. In my
humble opinion. BBT is throwaway light entertainment. It's not Cheers or Fraiser or Curb Your Enthusiasm. But then again it's a minefield in here and I'll probably get someone telling me Curb Your Enthusiasm is the Worst Thing ever and by extension I'm a Terrible Person for watching it.

I used to really, really like South Asian food. I lived in a part of London with a huge variety of Asian food and I had a fair bit for years. But I'm bored of it now and have it very rarely. So I don't offer my opinion of whether a place is good or not because I know that my antipathy towards the food more or less renders my judgement invalid.
The funniest thing about all this though is you admitting to liking Top Gear, an entertaining but at times highly controversial show that is often accused of racism and homophobia,
whilst at the same time decrying Seth MacFarlane's humour as racist and homophobic because you don't get that it's lampooning everything. You
still won't and don't address the fact that you find certain Oscar jokes offensive when they clearly aren't, you
still refuse to admit that you were wrong on the ZuBat thing.
But you know what? I don't want to argue with you anymore. It's no good for you, it's no good for me. Let's just agree to disagree.
And now I just feel bad about the whole thing. :(:(:(
My apologies.
faetal on 18/9/2013 at 13:28
It's not that it's a crime to watch them. I just find myself watching the BBT and thinking "well yeah, that's exactly what that character would say" because they pretty much write them with 1 dimension. Plus, canned laughter can go chug a pail of dicks.

HOLY FUCKING SHITThis must have been really hard for you to do, wasn't it?
SubJeff on 18/9/2013 at 18:36
Not really. I just felt really sad. I was listening to Lazerhawk and thought "this is all kinds of fucked up".
