What's wrong with blogging? Keeps you in practice, could be taken up by someone. Loads of people do it but so what?
If you've free time you could learn some programming or maybe another language. Loads of things you can learn/do on the computer actually.
You could become a fitness freak.
World is your oyster. Just don't waste your time.

Jesus this is like some magical thread that brings the worst in everyone. Probably because it was started by the wierd fetishist and now banned guy - the DoTheGeek curse lives on!
Anyway on topic - handholding shows. That's true but at the same time I feel they serve a function - sometimes you just want to turn your brain off and relax. Like with games, I had long and stressful days after which the last thing I want is the complexity and moral qualms of the witcher; mindless noncommital team fortress 2 is far more calming. SAme with my roommate who works ten hours at Walmart at times - dont blame him for just wAnting to be told when to laugh in BBT he watches after than trying to pick the nuances and clever jokes of, say, arrested development.
