Idea for a CGI Thief movie... - by Sluggs

What if we converted all the Thief AI into .3ds format, gave them some bones, (giving them the ability to move and be animated), make a few buildings, lights and such, and used them all to make a CGI Thief movie?
A movie made with original Thief AI? How kewl is dat? :cheeky:
ACK, double post... Not kewl! :o I need a ciggie!

I actually had this idea a while back as well, but was too lazy to follow through on it.

I thought of this too. I realized pretty quickly that I would have a lot to learn about the software involved, write a decent story, and have plenty of time to do it. It's obviously a huge undertaking, since no one's done it, and those with the ability would rather make huge FM's.
I am really surprised that we haven't seen SOMEthing like that, though, that isn't a CamVator conversation script thing.:erg:

you could probably make some awesome machinima that way - there's plenty of vocals you could butcher into new sentences as well!

Woo! Lets do it!
But what sort of applications and programs would allow us to do this?

Maya and other 3d programs with rendering inbuilt (I only say maya 'cos it's what I use;) ).
Maya was used for alot of pixars films :)

If you do decide to make an animated movie, you'd have to recreate the models, or ask the producers for the High Res Cinematic models. ;) Otherwise it'd look like shit, quite frankly.
I had this idea, also... It'd be an amazing thing to undertake, and participate in.
If you ever follow it through, just give me a shout; I know a few bits and pieces about film production / models and the such.
I also have Maya, I've never really took the time to learn it, but I could do if I wanted to.
PS: Anim8or sux.
