If there is a Thief 4 it may do away with medieval setting. - by Lightningline

It's pretty rough but judging by the thickness of the lines, I'd say he was holding a gun in the original sketch
Judging by the thickness of the lines? Why not judge by the fact that there's clearly a pistol inked in there?

If I want a modern Thief like game I would play Splinter Cell which is similar but all 3rd person
Nope, Splinter Cell is conceptually different from Thief. They are NOT similar.

Actually it would be great if they made a game where JC meets Garret.. say in 2060
Like Garret appears in 2060 and JC teaches him the ways of modern thievery...
That's the worst idea ever! :eww: Lame crossovers are only done as cash-ins after they got people hanging off of these titles by their tongues.
NEVA!

Why LAME crossover?
If done right it could be real fun
Garret and JC have alot in common btw

Garrett and JC stand outside UNATCO HQJC: I'll just take you through some of the stuff nowadays. Basically, this is a crate.
Garrett: amazing.
JC: If you want what's inside you take your cro-bar or baton and you hit it, like so.
Garrett: .... Cro-bar huh.
JC: well, after the lid crisis of 2030, Bob Page thought it a better use of materials if crates don't have lids anymore. Too many people getting hurt. Just causes more problems. Human individualism has evolved to the point that no one notices someone bleeding to death on the street these days. Even soldiers from the same unit. The amount of man hours lost just from splinters, you know like on the edge of the crate where the bar goes in. Right under your fingernails. Yowch. Guys would come in screaming and doctors would do nothing.
So much crate breaking these days no one pay attention to that either. So no stealth issue.
Garrett: ...
JC: ...what.
Garrett: I suppose you walk over the "cargo" to pick it up once you get it out.
JC: NO!

:laff: That's a good one! I'm wondering what situation in Deus Ex would fit Benny making an appearance in now. Probably some complex discussion where he's completely dumbfounded and drunk. :cheeky:

Frankly, I think it's a really awesome wallpaper. They would make an interesting team -- even if i'd
NEVER want to see an honest-to-Builder crossover game of it. :cheeky:

hah)
Some people take things too hard about thief here.. like Im really gonna go and make a crossover..
=====
(ok.. JC steps in Helios and ...bam!... he wakes up and finds himself at Garrets hideout...
Garret: You got a sword that SHINES in the dark.. it was the first time i laughed in my life!))))
JC: Screw you.. im running out of bioc... battaries
Garret: ahah yea that Benny in the bank was right about Electricity... perfect, just perfect!
=====
Gordon Quick to Garret:
-You want me to take your word?! You are in Hong Kong now and we deal with businessmen, not beggars or strangers who might be... ... thieves!

I think I'd be more interested in a SS2-Thief mix. It'd at least be much easier to mix the assets. Zylon brought it up once as a project idea and I was actually hoping it could get going.
I also wish, if they were doing a contemporary version of Garrett, that he'd be more like one of the leads in Ocean's 11, a burglary adept/mastermind, and not some white-trash looking refugee from Grand Theft Auto. (I would agree that that concept art looks like it had to be done tongue-in-cheek and shouldn't be taken seriously, but unfortunately you can never be so sure these days.)

Hey, Gloria? Is it ok if I make a "Deus Thief" FM where Garrett is JC and the Deus Ex story is set in the Thief Universe?
Cammon! You can't tell me you wouldn't like to see the Page/Simons game intro with Karrass and the Trickster! Can you imagine Karrass as Bob Page!? With that nasal voice of his?
Or how about Benny as Gunther Hermann?
Who doesn't want to fight PSF (Pagan Secessionist Force) terrorist on Taffer Island under the ruined statue of Barony (as in THE Baron) for UCAPHF (United City Anti-Pagan Hammerites Force, or "You-cap-huff")? See Benny run around drunkenly with a sword attacking people? :laff:
Hey! Think we could get Eric Brosius to remake the Deus Ex title theme in Thief-style? :joke:
I'm beginning to think I should run for my life right about....now.
:laff: :laff: :laff:
I laughed so hard, I still can't take my breath :thumb:

I read in PCGamer, although it was just a prediction of sorts, that Eidos will announce Thief 4 in 2007, and its gonna be set in the future. But I don't think there's any definite truth at all behind it.
But I agree with Gloria.. the 3rd ended nicely as the 1st began, with the circle closing. I'd love to play more Thief but they might spoil what is probably the best story of any games I've played.
It would be intersting to see how the passage of time went, and how the future looks.
