If Thi4f has a LARGE City Map... - by Jilly The Taffer

I agree with that!
Hopefully you could walk up to The Cradel and burn it down a second time...
But it would be awesome to see some old places again, maybe boarded and locked up.
EDIT: I agree with the no loading points and would never wish for them back, but I'm curious;
With how much is in a level, how do you splice it up without obnoxios loading points?

Hmm, yes. I'm also wondering that.
If the actual mission levels are going to be large, than the City is going to be collosal.
There are bound to be some loading points somewhere :erg:
Or can the engines of today handle something that gigantuin without a break?
And if we do need loading points EM, don't facepalm us with swirly blue portals. Please.Maybe something like the split-second pauses you get when entering a newly-found area in Morrowind?

What districts would you want to be accessable?
Hm, just realised, it should really be a multiple choice poll :erm:
Thief turning into an MMO now? Go everywhere, do everything?

Why couldn't it be like in T1 and T2, but slightly changed:
The jobs could go
Miss01 in New Market
New Market city exploration
Miss02 in South Quarter
South Quarter city exploration
Miss03 in Wayside
Docks city exploration
Miss04 in Shalebridge
Crossing the Shale Bridge to Dayport
Miss05 in Dayport
Dayport city exploration
...And so on.
There would always be a new city section as you move to the next mission, but you wouldn't have to ever go to the same place twice.

Voted for "outside the City". More nature! :D
You know, after exploration of the City in TDS... I thought it will lose its mystery when you see the whole City as it is on your hand. Of course, there MUST be missions in City's districts, but all is good in moderation.

Garrett has already re-visited some places like the haunted cathedral
I don't remember Garrett ever revisiting the Haunted Cathedral (after T1) :weird:

Indeed, but re-visiting other, more memorable locations in the new high-graphics game would be incredible.
Imagine just wandering the new awesome-graphiced City, finding a small opening of the Sealed Section wall, and wandering through those deserted streets to find the Haunted Cathedral looming over you once again.
Or just strolling along the Dayport rooftops, the great new engine has made the weather rainy and quite misty.
Then, slowly, the HUGE mass of Angelwatch appears before you, the raindrops splashing on the angel statue.Yes, I'm on your wavelength! :)
(especially regarding the Sealed Section... sweet memories)

Of course not :nono:
But a MUCH larger map and exploration of the City would be very much appreciated in my books. Just to be able to walk many streets, access most rooftops, break-in to most houses ect...
Just more freedom. I want to feel as free as a thief in a city :ebil:

Seconded. :thumb: I'd like to see the ruins of the old places from TDP, MA, & even some from TDS included in T4 and be able to explore them a bit. Maybe Garrett would have to go back to some of his old haunts (no pun intended, 'kthnx!) for some bit of forgotten info or item. Could be interesting, no?

I would like to see a City where you can wander through, but not in the way of Thief 3: After two times in the district it's no more fun to walk in it. I mean, you go to the Docks for the first time, you laugh about the pagans, steal the pagan bush, go to the pub and the Abysmal Gale. Second time, you've already seen everything so you just sell your stuff and you go to the next mission.
I hope that in Thief 4 you cannot enter every building immediately in a District, but after some more nights. I would love to see more side quests and more events (for example some Warden threatening a guy). In that way the districts stay interesting.

Yes!
Something maybe like:
- You have to wander around the nearby street and pickpocket the key to the house from the homeowner. But which guy owns which house? Is the key for the front or back door?
- To many people crowding a house for a few days. A celebration or something. You have to wait for everyone to clear out, before entering safely.
ect, ect. These could act as side-quests, or not, which forces you to just use your Thiefy common sense and find the way inside on your own, without being told.
Whether it be an unlocked window, the guy with the key, or waiting for the house to empty, this could prove very exciting, and if so, should happen all over the City.
