I want to feel as free as a thief in a city :ebil:
Amen to that!
@PotatoGuy- Yeah, opening up more quests as time goes by is the way to go. Have little clues as to when a certain house is optimal for entry, have keys and such be discovered later... That way you avoid getting stuck in a boring routine like in DS.

I want something new. Ok, maybe one, two locations from T1/2 or nearby as a nice cameo/tribute. But no bloody sandbox, open world, side quests, aimless wandering and such load of bollocks. I can play Assassins Creed if I'd want those.

Lots of FMs had objectives which were added as you played through the mission and I thought that added to the FM tremendously. When I say I want to be able to explore, I mean that I don't want to have to follow a straight path set by the T4 devs to get from point A to point B (reminds me of the training mission in TDS :( ) . I'd like to be able to climb over walls & see what's on the other side, sneak into most of the houses along the lane, climb up to the top of a building and take the Thieves' Highway for awhile.
If I wanted a totally open world I'd just go back & play Morrowind or Oblivion. As I said, I don't want T4 to be as linear as TDS, where you could only climb certain walls or explore parts of certain buildings because they had relatively little to do with your mission.

Day/night cycles maybe?

Or can the engines of today handle something that gigantuin without a break?
This has been doable since the beginning IF there's will to do so. It is even more likely now, when you can just leave the data load back. Still not easygoing sure, but in general, I generally don't believe when I say "It cannot be done" statements. They are more likely to be "we don't care to do it" or, typically worse "we would like to do it, but we cannot as <insert reason there - can be legit>".

The more I read your posts here on ttlg the more I fear for any opinion it might help shaping. Have you complained about the linearity of the TDP Keeper Training or that you were in a completely empty compound in the first place? Have you in fact climbed everything in TDS, the top of the caves in the beginning of the Pagan territory, the extra tenement within the rooftops of Old Quarter, the little shaft in the Cradle's observatory?
No one questions the flaws of TDS and that there could have been more ways to get from A to B (maybe even
with the xBox limitations) but your personal impressions are often so not-differentiated and ignorant that I'm almost inclined to like you not... just for throwing your half-knowledge plus personal impression without further warning into ttlg, and all that in a quite persistent manner. I don't argue with your opinion but with your method. I'm tired of the whole black TDS legend consisting to app. 30% of uncorrected assertions.

BC; you've got a point in that after my initial disappointment in TDS I didn't linger in any one mission (my disappointment was such that for the most part I just wanted to play thru the game & get it over & done with), so I therefore probably missed aspects of the game that made it so enjoyable & appealing for others. Ergo, your perception of my ignorance of that game is probably correct in that I didn't replay it a hundred times the way I did the first two Thief games so am therefore not as knowledgeable of that game as I may be of TDP & TMA. For some reason the linearity of the TDP training mission never bothered me to the extent of that in TDS; maybe it had something to do with TDS' 'follow the glowing footsteps' thing, which I perceived as being aimed at someone with the mentality of a ten year old. Go figure. Sorry if my vehemence on the subject has offended. In my defense I have admitted that there were certain aspects of TDS which I found appealing or positive.
Thanks for respecting my right to an opinion, even if you disagree and/or dislike the manner in which (or frequency of) said opinion is delivered.

Wow, a lot of votes for 'Everything, everywhere.' :thumb:
I hope EM takes this into consideration.

@ Dia: Thanks for not firing back as I had feared. :p I don't feel deeply offended myself, I'm just a little fussy with things like that – and I also believe that there are quite some emperor's-new-clothes-like mindsets floating around in these fora. I like TDS for its strenghts and I cannot argue against anyone on the basis that he simply doesn't like it, but some criticism is just not objective.
@ topic: Erm... I guess I'm with Judith.

You're welcome BC; only because I had no defense against your accusations. I understand the feeling of only being able to tolerate just so much of another's differing opinion, especially when that other doesn't seem to be aware of all the facts and also posts repeatedly in what you consider to be their ignorance of same. Mea culpa. However, I still have valid opinions re: TDS and will continue to voice said opinions within the proper threads, keeping in mind that my experience with that game isn't what die-hard TDS fans would consider as knowledgeable as some. As you said; everyone has the right to their own opinon.
