i always wondered where the story line would have gone after thief 3,as i did like the story alot and it matched well with first 2 games
i figured if i had to guess i would say the keepers are kinda in the same position the hammers were when mechs were on top,so it then would kinda put a lot of the faction on a level playing field, hammers fractured, keepers lost all writings, mechs lost there leader and have no direction or anyone to lead, the pagans lost there woodsie lord and viktoria and are now left with nothing but the land they live on.
so i am kinda stump on what would have happened?
what would you say the next game story would/should have gone?

The games' what if scenario is basically hinged around what happens if the Barons at some point In time of history after the era that you remember banned religion' superstition and magic and 400 years of progress passed by.
So the difference? The other story would be religion still exists in the future.

i think its already been discussed that thief 4 story is not canon, more of a alternate universe
going by thief 3 being the last of canon, what do you think would have been continuation of story?

Knowing Garrett, he'd probably try to find someone willing to take in the girl from the end of the game. He's not really a fatherly type. The game hints that a fractions of Keepers survived, maybe having been forced into hiding--since Garrett is part of their group, they'd probably try to get his help.

if thief one is the dark project, and thief 2 is the metal age and thief 3 is deadly shadows what should have thief 4 been in title? i also wanted to know that
also in thief 1 the pagans were the main enemy at end,in thief 2 it was the mechs in thief 3 it was the keepers
maybe part 4 should have been craybeast/bugbeast some kind of underground missions

The craybeasts and bugmen aren't really their own faction, though...bugmen were part of the Trickster's followers, and craybeasts don't seem to have an 'established' society in the same way that the Hammerites and Pagans do.
The games were all respectively focused on chaos, order, and balance based on the foundation of each faction.

ok so pagans were in part 1 ,part 2 was hammer/mechs as karras started as a hammer first, part 3 was keepers
maybe they could have made part 4 about pre thief 1 to show more about garrets past, how the keepers/hammers formed
or do one where the downwinders are the main end boss as one fan mission i remember playing years ago,was good too
it could have a bit more traveling to differnt area's have a boat part, maybe a early plane/submarine/blimp,i think if you took the best things from alot of the fan missions you would have a amazing new thief game, but keep the classic thief 2 graphics and engine ofcourse updated to newdark
i know in thief gold they had mages but not sure a game with mage boss would be good but i could be wrong, there are 4 types of mages so it could be done if each mage class has say 2 missions a piece and also side missions to fill in the gaps
also i would forsure like to see more of cutty and farkus i dont feel i know enough to know how garret meet them, also felix would be cool to see alive in a game to see if it was like garrett at all

The Hand Brotherhood were the mages in Thief Gold, they might have potential as a faction if there was more information on their organization.

I think something more neutral (the City Wardens return?) would have been nice. I think the Baron should have been such an untouchable mysterious entity, that I didn't feel that in *any* story Garrett needs to challenge him.

After Thief 3, Garrett goes back to being a thief, because for the first time since he was a child, he actually is just a thief now. All those years he thought he was a thief, he was actually the one true keeper, keeping the world at balance through his actions, while the false keepers had adopted the misguided policy of non-interference.
I know it's a stupid cliche, especially in the 4th installments to franchises, but I guess one possibility would be for something really ancient to take advantage of the fact that the keepers' prophecies are no longer there to ruin the evil master plans of world dominators. The only faction old enough to know about the origin and existence of the keeper order. Maybe the baron returned "victorious" from the war, when in reality the war was won with the help of this mysterious ultra-powerful faction, that threatened the baron and forced him to help them accomplish their plans with his influence.
And since nothing is written in the books of the keepers, there wouldn't be a set ending anymore. There could be branches in the story, and different endings. Instead of saving the world selfishly, forced into a chain of events by what has been written, Garrett would need to make a choice of whether to help, or not. Whether to trust or betray. And maybe the goals of the antagonist could be in some way relatable, to allow Garrett's selfishness to factor in, and give players the ability to take the story in a direction that isn't obviously good or obviously bad. And there could be also a different path, where someone else ends up saving the day, only with indirect help from Garrett, demonstrating to him the reality that he and the keepers are not in the wheel anymore. The world needs to take care of itself. They however are still part of the world, and even if it isn't written in prophecies, they can still change it.

I never got the impression that the wardens actually went anywhere. Ramirez is dead, but Webster and Raputo are still in power, and maybe someone new took over Ramirez' territory. Maybe his children? Or Master Nightfall? :P
